processor is upgradable. Besides...this isn't for people who want power or performance. This is for people who don't have a laptop, and don't want the normal buy-in price of 600+

A celeron is ideal for the majority of people... most of us here know that! And really it'll smoke any netbook in comparison test.

Im trying to find a cheap laptop for my boss, there is a $399 Compaqe at Biglots that I think is probably better than this, has a dual core Turion 3gb ram, bigger hdd, Vista, ect.

Does anyone else find it mildly amusing that everyone thinks it's perfect for someone else?

Yeah I do lol. Good observation. I still think that $400 one at big lots is a much better deal.

I agree that the Big Lots laptops a better deal, because it'd be faster, better for photo processing, and gaming , and basically everything. However for just web surfing, emails, writing documents, watching dvds, burning dvd's/cd's, etc, this $298 model would be fine. I have a friend I'm debating having him get the big lots one or the walmart one, mainly cuz i dont wanna fight crowds at walmart saturday morning w/ him so i may just tell him to call around big lots in the city to find the other compaq

I might get one considering I don't do much but browse the net, watch movies, and im. I doubt I could get up at 8 on a Saturday morning unless I just don't go to sleep.

Yeah, but it's already sold out at every Big Lots I've been to. They sold out in like half an hour from what I've heard.
