I want to thank everyone here for the great resources they've contributed in their posts. They are helping me greatly.
For my debut forum post here, I'd like to offer back to the forums something in return; allow me to detail how I got 44% off MSRP on my new W510 Lenovo (seatbelt not included).
To begin, here in Canada, Lenovo is offering $480 off the list price. Today is Black Friday, in the USA the online discount is a couple hundred dollars off more than that. Both prices are subject to the promotional discount (if any) of the day, and may change. But that is not the best way to get a discount.
To get the best Lenovo discount, ignore all online e-coupon codes. While good for 15-25% off, they cannot match the discount a Lenovo phone rep will offer you if you call them directly.
No haggling required, they gave me their best discount on the already reduced price, 35% off the discounted price. 44% off MSRP in total.
My total discount would have been closer to 50% total, but I decided to make substantial SSD and RAM upgrades through Lenovo; with the discount the upgrades were much closer to street value.
I hope this will save somebody a lot of money. Remember, call a Lenovo sales rep directly to get the best discount possible.

The discount code applied by the Lenovo sales rep was:
CAPREDFLAGDEALS -
Is this only for Canada or does the coupon work for US? Thanks!

I'm not sure, coupon is likely valid in both countries as I could use US codes and get discounts in Canada.
I found the discount code on my confirmation invoice. If the code doesn't work, just call the Lenovo telephone sales rep. They gave me the 35% discount with no haggling.
Hope that helps. -
Not to burst your bubble, and absolutely no offense meant, but this coupon code is available online.
But yes, phone customer care at lenovo is very good. Hope you never have to try their chat though - absolutely terrible. Very rude and impatient, takes a good 10 minutes to go through as well.
