Wow, that is just plain awesome... Too bad the T61p isn't out yet, otherwise I'd scoop one up right now.
-
I made an account on slickdeals but it still wont let me access that page. Is there anything you can post here about it? Like a link to the deal on the lenovo site or a code or whatever I would need?
-
-
What do you have to do to access the page??????
-
Sorry guys, looks like it is too late. The moderator probably locked the thread because it was against their TOS.
If anyone has the cached page they can post the details here. -
Is there a special code in order to get this discount?
-
I found a link on FatWallet.

That's really a huge saving!

page is gone. well, it is illegal to steal ppl ID and pw
anyway, what shall i get? X60 tablet or X60? -
-
It says there is only up to a 6 month warranty, does this mean that even if we order an extended warranty or thinkpad protection that it wont matter? Thats fairly ambiguous.
Also, the post did say theres nothing illegal about it, btu I can't help but wonder... any Lenovo employees here (I know theres a few) who can comment on whats going on? I have a feeling Lenovo may catch on if they see that Bryan Meyer's 'friends and family' ordered 1000 laptops, and I don't want my warranty voided.
Also, any idea how long this is going to be going on? With his SN/Last Name, could we just do it anytime? Or is there a certain time frame in which the 'friends and family' deal is going on? i really want to wait for the T61p... but these prices are too good to miss! Any idea if this will last the two weeks ort so till they start taking T61p orders? -
I read some site about EPP warranty isnt that simple.... especially they check serial number... -
You guys need to chill out. I ordered my 4 year old Dell Inspiron with my employers EPP discount with accidental damage coverage and I have never had any issues getting parts replaced. The original post was copied from someone else who posted it over at FatWallet or SlickDeals. I don't know what the hell he is talking about regarding the 6 month warranty, don't these come with 1 year warranties standard?
Anyway I ordered my T61 a few weeks ago with a 3 year warranty including accidental damage and I am sure I won't have any problems using it if I need to. If you want to save a boat load of money I guess you're going to have to take a risk but I wouldn't stress over it. I'm pretty sure Lenovo wouldn't void hundreds of warranties... they aren't giving these away guys I am sure they are still making money on them.
Log in using the information in the first post and take a look at the page. "EPP Referral Program - Coming this quarter!". Looks like employees might be able to send a referral e-mail or something similar to others in the near future. -
Inside info: Another *bigger* sale is being planned for within about 2 months. -
-
I suspect that the employee is more likely to be disciplined. Until then, your order should be valid because you are ordering with his consent. Currently I believe we are limited to 5 items a year (that limit tends to fluctuate, especially when there is a temporary "referral" program).
Lenovo might have different policies, but this is an IBM # not a Lenovo #.
Judging by the #, he's a somewhat newbie employee.
Anyway... remember.... EPP SALES ARE FINAL SALES! NO EXCHANGE NO REFUND NO CHANGES NO NOTHIN! -

hella funny. slick deal quoted us back:

According to my order confirmation:

by the way, what did u get? -
hmm everyone is getting T61? i am considering it too.. but the battery life is terrible... the review said 2 hours 15 minutes for max performance.
btw, fatwallet and tailor program got cash back. remember to use it ppl -
Is that the famous Fourth of July sale? By that time the T61p should be out.
Care to elaborate on it just a little bit more?
-
-
-
I know for sure it was non-returnable non-exchangeable final-sale, as recently as December, and before that, for all the years i've been an employee.
Phone sales and ask about the EPP return policy to be sure, then please post us back here. When you call, be prepared to provoide the employee name, number and your name. -
The integrated graphics on a T61 should help for battery.
If santa rosa + vista is the culprit, then every manufacturer will have problems with battery life. If you're worried, then wait for more info or get a 60-series instead of 61. -
I cannot elaborate because i dont know any more, except that the prices will be a bit lower because of a coming price drop.
Your guess is better than mine whether the P will be orderable then.
Of course, eventually the t61P will be cheaper than than the T61 is now... you know, electronics & laptops.
Example, looky at how the T60p is cheaper today than the T60 was a year ago. -
-
-
the only problem is Meyer account wont work when the bigger sale comes.

My heart is melting over the X60 right now.....So tempted to go for the base model of it at just over 1k, but alas, I have no money right now. Maybe over the summer.....
-
Another way to save $$$.... if you know someone who lives in a state with no sales tax, ship it there, and you'll save the sales tax. For me, shipping to new york is a whopping 8% tax, ouch!
-
umm which wireless card did you guys choose?
kind of confusing -
In my experience, sometimes they check back with you and sometimes not.
Regardless, I'd say if you buy an extended warranty, they can't void that without refunding your money for it... otherwise you'd have a valid legal claim i'd think.
But i guess they could void the one year included with the original purchase price, on the basis that the purchase was somewhat fraudulent or tainted.
Until recently, when thinkpads were all IBM, every thinkpad had at least 3 years warranty. Back then, losing your warranty was a big deal. But now, if it's just a 1 year warranty, it's not much of a loss... If the laptop works on arrival, it'll most likely work for 1 year.
If it breaks in year #2, your c/card should cover it (assuming your c/card includes such coverage, which is always thru a 3rd party, not the manufacturer).
So, if i were in your situations, given it's only a 1-year warranty, I'd use his emp info and hope for the best. LOL.
That's my .02 -

4 cell only? -
dietcokefiend DietGreenTeaFiend
After knowing a friend at IBM then Lenovo that has lent his EPP code in the past, this guys info going public is a very bad thing. Employees are limited to a certain number of machines a year under that account, between 10-20, and any "odd" activity means the entire account gets audited, and if required (and listed in the agreement) they will come back and start charging full price after the fact to make up the difference.
-
Look at his specs. He has the fastest processor, 7200rpm HD, and discrete graphics. He isn't too concerned about being away from an outlet.
-
Hey Vermicious,
Thanks for backing me up
It's true, this laptop will be docked a majority of the time, but I do like working around the house here and there with it undocked but not for more than a few hours at a time anyway. So the 4 cell works for me. When I travel, I don;t use the laptop away from an outlet for more than a few hours either.
I rather have the 4-cells lighter weight and not have the extruding footprint of the larger batteries. IF i need a larger battery, I can splurge for one later down the line.
I had so many discount things going on, I forgot about FatWalllet and Im already a memeber too. Oh wellIf you are right and they deny the EPP customers the 3.5% back, then no worries anyway. However, I was just looking at the site and wondering how exactly you even combine the 2? When you go through Fatwallet, it takes you to the regular Lenovo page and prices... how do you get to EPP with FatWallet?
If they try to charge me full price before this ships, I will cancel my order.
Should be interesting to see what happens!
Thanks again!
Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad desktops & laptops up to 40% discount. Free standard shipping.
