Bing is actually 20% now! :)

Lenovo Bing Cashback is at 20%!

Bing is really easy to use. You need a Windows Live/Hotmail e-mail account setup to use it.

    Information:

    How cashback works

    Bing FAQ

    Bing Cashback home page

    How It Works:

    1.Search
for cashback deals using Bing. Click a cashback listing and find great deals on the product you chose.

Your results list the cashback savings you'll receive off the store price and your bottomline price, too

    2. Shop
Compare and sort products by the bottomline price. Click the best deal to go to the store.
Don't worry if you don't see the cashback symbol or savings when making a purchase at a store's website. We'll email you after your purchase to confirm your cashback.
Your first time using Bing cashback, we'll ask for your email address so we can tell you how to quickly open your free cashback account. Or you can sign up now for an account.

    3. Save
Save each time you shop with Bing cashback. Every time you make an eligible purchase, we'll email you to confirm your Bing cashback savings.
You can request your cashback about 60 days after your purchase (the waiting period varies by store) and with at least $5 in your cashback account.

Cin, the original link is to the Newegg site. :p Not Lenovo. Pretty sure newegg's still 10%?

The Y550 is available at Lenovo's site for 793 with the GT230M and T6600, 3GB, 250GB HDD, not a bad deal with 20% CB for a cheap gaming platform either.

No, click the top link, it's to the thread I made just a bit ago regarding Lenovo being at 20%.

And the rest of the information is (parts) copied from the Newegg thread on how to use Bing! ;)

    I'm pretty sure it is...either that...or I've eaten to much Turkey today.. :p :D

Oh yes....I've had to much Turkey. :p < good excuse. :p

Newegg is still "bouncing" around with the 10%. It is currently showing at 10% right now. Earlier it was erroring out, or only showing 2%...

You can possibly make it even better IF the coupon stacks with Bing, however, coupon use could negate Bing, making Bing a better choice at 20%. Coupon 15% off code (USP15SVEBIG)

I CANNOT CONFIRM IF COUPON USE WILL NEGATE BING AT LENOVO. IT DEFINITELY DOES AT HP.

If you don't want to risk going with Bing, another option that saves you money immediately, compared to waiting for 20% from Bing is going to Lenovo's shareholder purchasing program and using the 15% off there.

    Note, math could be wrong.

Note, also spent too much time checking out the configurations.

On the IdeaPad Y550, I came up with the following specs which added up to $1,138. I applied the 15% off code (USP15SVEBIG) and the final price with tax and $10 two-day shipping came to 1,045.71 for a total savings of $700.70 (subtotal was $1,668).

I still could change the specs to make the final price a little cheaper.

Intel WiFi Link 5100 1x2 (AGN) WLAN

    >>15.6 HD WLED Glossy, 1366*768 with 1.3M integrated Camera

Does anybody know if this comes higher resolution. 1366*768 is less for me and definitely a a deal breaker.

I was hoping this would happen! I read on SlickDeals that it is wise to post an item on a popular forum like SlickDeals or NoteBookReview because websites like Amazon or NewEgg scan these forums to read the latest customer complaints or ideas. In fact, whenever people on the SlickDeals forum complain about spelling errors that they notice on some of Amazon's web-pages, these errors are corrected just minutes later or in some cases a deal would suddenly appear after customers said they would buy a certain item if it were cheaper. One company is simply trying to get ahead of the other when it comes to customer relations.

I am not saying that NewEgg dropped the price because of this thread or because I said I would purchase the Y550 if it were $100-$150 cheaper. It could be that they are just simply competing with sales trends this weekend.

You either go with dv6t or this one if you want something with a quite a bit life time for under 1K.

Is VT enabled on this machine? Lenovo disable VT support on all Ideapads including Y550. How about this i7 version?

I am not sure. I tried to look for info, but none can be found. All I know is that Lenovo disabled VT support on all of their previous Ideapads, but it is not certain if this is the case with the 324156U model.

I like the Y550 (324156U). I've had problems with HP in the past (with desktops and laptops) and with the corporation itself so the Y550 is my only option. My only problem with the Y550 is that it lacks Bluetooth, Blu-ray and a backlit keyboard. Bluetooth is easily solved by purchasing a Bluetooth adapter for $20. I probably should not worry too much about Blu-ray since I do not own any Blu-ray discs. My desktop, however, can play Blu-Ray discs. I know some owners of the Asus UL80VT have been able to convert the keyboard on the UL80VT to backlit, but I am not sure if the same can be done to the Y550 324156U model. I am sure making this kind of configuration must void the warranty?

I also like the Y550P, but it is too expensive...

IdeaPad Y550P – Cutting-edge power for multimedia on the go
The IdeaPad Y550P is ideal for today’s multi-tasker and is the most powerful laptop in Lenovo’s consumer portfolio. The IdeaPad Y550P is Lenovo’s first notebook to use the newest Intel Quad Core CPU (I7-720QM) with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology that automatically speeds up the processor when the PC needs extra performance. This high-performance laptop also features powerful NVIDIA GT240M 1GB dedicated graphics and TV tuner card, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and 500GB hard drive. In addition, the IdeaPad Y550P has a 15.6 inch HD widescreen display, Dolby® Home Theater™ surround sound, and unique Lenovo tools like SlideNav – a touch-sensitive bar above the keyboard that makes it faster and easier to navigate programs, documents and shortcuts, or even quickly change the desktop wallpaper on users’ systems.

The Y550p is better compared to the one listed on NewEgg, especially the Y550p model that costs over $1,200 on the Lenovo website. I applied a 15% coupon during checkout and it bought the Y550p down to around $1,069. I hope a much better coupon will appear soon that will bring down the price much further.

Hello, I was looking for info on this myself. VT is very important as well as decent graphics.
    I found this
The link is at Lenovo website and explains how to enable VT. Not sure if it works but I'm about to invest $1K in it so I hope its correct.
Be nice if the price was to suddenly drop.
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad...Y550-Virtualization-Problem/m-p/175151#M15308

It tells you how to enable VT. Makes no sence why you have to jump through hoops to get something thats already there.

Looks like a nice lappy. Only would be better if it were in a 14" chassis.

Edit: Hmmm, looks like something similar in a 14" with the Y450, except everything on the Lenovo site is Core 2 Duo, nothing Core i7 that I see?
