You can also go through the Shareholder Purchase Program and use coupon USPYEAREND for 10% off those prices. That may be slightly cheaper yet.

Indeed, the W700 speced out by the OP is $1146 through SPP after 10% off USPYEAREND coupon (was hoping the 20% off W series would work, but it didn't)

You don't actually have to own Lenovo stock, just go to http://www.lenovo.com/spp and sign up for an account.

I would throw on the 2 year depot + 2 year accidental damage warranty to any of the Lenovo systems as it's only $58 for the W500 and $67 for the W700.

Awww, can't get a W700ds anywhere near that. Otherwise that would be sweet.

The DS sucks... have you seen that side panel in person? It's almost completely illegible.

I haven't seen it in person. But is it really that bad? I'm thinking of a side screen for music or a small video stream window while I work on the main screen.

It's a good idea but poor execution. The side panel is much dimmer and blurrier than the main WUXGA screen.

Awwww. I can live with dimmer, but blurrier??? What a shame.
