Man, sooo tempting. My Sony earbuds, though nice, are wearing out.

I have the red entry-level Ultimate Ears and enjoyed them for their durability and SQ but have always been ambivalent about lack of bass.

What's the best one for me? I love UE's build quality, but would like to achieve a balance in all areas!

Very tempting, the UE 700 is even cheaper now than my westone UM2 I'm using but probably much better.

How's the sound balance? Is there good enough bass but not too much?

UM2 or UE700? Didn't try the UE700 yet, but it's a tripple armature driver, so the bass should be more pronouced. For UM2, it's one of the best double armature driver earphones, the bass is tight and not too much.

Thanks. Was asking about the UE700.

I'm using a pair of UEs that I got 2 years ago. I'm not 100% sure which ones they are, but they're red-colored, use a plastic-covered memory wire that's silver in the inside. The bass is almost non-existent. Even when I turned up the bass-boost feature on my Sony S-639 mp3 player all the way, I found it lacking. It's good at everything else. In an orchestra track, your sweet-sounding violins and flutes will be easily audible but the baritones will be almost completely stifled.

I got them for $50 back when they were retailing for $100. Think they're the Super.fi 3? Not sure!

EDIT: Hold on, let me take a snapshot of them. Gimme about 5 minutes to shoot and imageshack it here!

Most low end models of high end brands with single armature driver has a lack of bass.

What about the single armature Super.Fi 5? The older version of it supposedly has 2 armature drivers. The new one now has 1.

Oh, nvm, I tried the UE700 and it doesn't sound as good as my UM2, obviously it seems that I mixed up UE700 with triple fi, was thinking how could a tri-fi cost so little.
