I am going to purchase a dell studio 17 soon.
I configured one at dell.com which came out to almost $1300. I would like to get it for under $1000  if possible.
I will wait to order if that means I'll save money with an upcoming coupon.

I'll try calling dell tomorrow and ask them about coupons.

Does anyone know about dell coupons for the studio 17?

    Thanks

There's a code for 20% off select Studio 15 laptops $1299+ DWT79HX3X4BG40. I know nothing about Studio 17, however. There's also 3% cashback from FatWallet. I'm not sure if there's anything better out there...good luck bargain hunting! :)

Hey..I checked the places I use most, for any S17 deals and I couldn't find any. :(

Do you have EPP? If so, you can use that for savings ;)

Call Dell tomorrow and see if they are doing any coupon deals on the S17..or would match any similar ones, they have currently going for other models. :D

    Good luck!

    Cin ;) :)

Lowering the specs will get it below 1000 ;)

Yes it would, but I need to have the ATI Graphics, Intel p8400 cpu, WUXGA LCD, backlit keyboard and FP reader :D

I'll just have to wait for coupons. I've already checked the outlet but they only had 2 systems last time I checked.

    Thanks

I called dell this morning and asked if they knew of any coupons or upcoming deals on the studio 17. They said they didn't know of any but they could offer me a promotion.
They offered me these specs for $1199
    Jet Black
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8400 (2.20GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1
    Microsoft Works
1Yr Ltd Warranty and Mail-In Service
Hi Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch LED display (1920x1200)
    4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
    Dual: 640GB (2x 320) SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
6X Slot Load Bluray (BD) Combo Drive (BD Read Only)
    Intel®WiFi Link 5100 802.11agn Half Mini-Card
    Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam
56 Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
    High Definition Audio 2.0
    Back-lit Keyboard
    Integrated Finger Print Reader

This unit configured @ dell.com comes out to $1,734

The only thing is I don't need the Blueray, and huge hard drive.
But I thought about buying this to re sell on ebay. I could more for it because of the huge hard drives and blueray.

    What do you all think?

For that price I would get it even if I didn't have a need for the Blu-ray or hard drives. You can take one of the drives out and sell it if you want.

To late I already ordered it :D
I'll decide whether I'll resell it or do like atbnet said and sell the extras like the hard drive and blueray drive. I don't even care about blueray and never use more than 25GB on a laptop.

    Thanks again ;)

I asked them for coupons, they said that sales reps don't have coupons but can offer promotions. I told them what I was looking for and the guy told me the specs and then the price $1199.

Call again, maybe a different sales rep can get it for you.
This is the guy who gave me the promotion.

I think you totally rock. I have been shopping the Studio 17 for a couple weeks and since you posted this I went ahead and contacted Dell Sales via telephone today. Referencing your post with the sales agent I got the *exact* config I wanted for $884, plus tax, free shipping, 9 months interest free on my DPA.

    $854 for

    Midnight Blue
    P8400
    3G 800MHz
    Backlit keyboard
    1440x900 LED
    Intel 4500MHD
    320G
    Vista Home Premium
    DVD/RW
    Intel 5100 802.11n
    6 cell
    Bluetooth (plus $30)

Thanks for posting. It took some back and forth, and over an hour on the phone, but in the end it saved me almost $400 off the website configured price (which included a $199 discount!)

No such luck for me. Maybe I don't know all the magic words, but I called the 800 number, gave them my config and asked if they had any upcoming coupons or promotions. Dude just gave me the price off the website and nothing more. Here's my config:

    Code:
    Studio 1737, Intel Core 2 Duo T5800, 2.0GHz, 800Mhz, 2M L2 Cache
Matte Black Paint with Black Trim
    2GB, DDR2, 800MHz 2 Dimm
Hi Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch display (1920x1200)
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
250G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor
Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium Edition, English
8X Slot Load CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
    Intel 5100 Wireless-N (1x2) Half Mini-Card
56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (2.1)
    $1,036.02 w/ EPP discount :(

The salesman I got initially asked for the URL of this site, which I emailed him while we were on the phone. Also, I forgot to add Bluetooth to my initial config, and when I called back I had to talk to the "order change" department. They canceled my initial order, but retained the pricing, and by selectively deleting options (trial anti-virus, MS Works, etc.) I was able to get the final price I ended up with. Good luck!
