A while back (about 8 weeks) there was a link to receive a Microsoft Flash Drive for free. It was loaded with some microsoft software stuff. I was wondering if anyone here who tried this deal out received their drive and how it works.
Just curious

I haven't yet.

still waiting. it was a while ago... i just hope i get it before i die
-
i havent gotten anything yet..still patiently waiting...
pb,out. -
On the microsoft site it said your flash drive will be sent out within 6-8 weeks + it could take like 10 days for shipping. So it should be comming soon. However I think its just like a 16MB key. But who knows if Microsoft will even send it out.
-
Its 32MB
i hope it does come soon -
if it doesn't come soon i won't get mine at all -- i change addresses may 12.
-
yeah its been more than 8 weeks hasnt it? well maybe not, but i doubt we'll be getting anything anyway
is it really 32mb? -

I'm still waiting for mine as well. Maybe it's been delayed along with Vista.
-
since vista was delayed, the flash drive is coming 3rd quarter 08..too many bugs on the ground breaking 32mb usb drive. i reread that, and it made me laugh. yes, indeed.
pb,out. -
i want it NOW!

Metamorphical Good computer user
Lol, there are kids at my school who would beat ya up for wearing an MS flashdrive around your neck.
;
--Thumbs up-- I need one of these. Cool. -
i wont wear it i just want what is rightfully mine so i can hold it up in triumph, use it for a while, then put it away somewhere
-
i probably wont even use it...i just want it for some strange reason.

I am waiting for it as well. Hoping it's circuit board is similar to my 512 frash drive so that I can change the broken pastic case
-
-
Its only a 16-32MB key. I will most likely give it to a friend if I ever get it. I already have a flash drive. But If Microsoft is true to their word it should come.
-
Didn't get mine yet. They did, however, sent a (snail mail) letter to me at my work address (I filled out 2, one for my home address and put in some fake company name, and one for work where I actually have a serious-sounding job title) saying they want me to attend some webinar, and the first 200 attendees get a free 512MB flash drive.
The times were all when I'm actually working, and the webinar titles sounded completely boring, so I'm not going to attend, but at least I know they got my form. Too much work for a 512MB drive. Oh they wanted me to fill out an evaluation of the webinar when I'm done to MAYBE get the drive. Sorry, Microsoft, not good enough.

its the principle, so NO ONE has gotten their's yet but we do know that they know that we exist...
-
I haven't got mine either. It would be nice to just use this to carry around Word files and Powerpoint etc.
-
I guess , We're in the same boat...Well , I hope they really ship the Flash Drive.
-
i'd like to get mine to perform some ritual dance around it while it melts in the fire.
-
I havent gotten mine either.......I hope it comes soon, i need another useless pice of PC paraphernalia!!
**EDIT: I found the original post describeing this deal using the forum's search feature and then revisited the site which showed the following (along with other MS garbage):
"Thank you for your interest in the valuable Windows Desktop Licensing information pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, we have reached the limit of this offer and are no longer accepting orders. Please download the Windows Desktop Licensing reference files directly."
So maybe they are on the way? -
doubtful but who knows
-
I saw that ad and thought it was too good to be true. Also I have plenty of sticks of flash ram. damn things are becoming the floppies of the 21st century. At a recent trade show they were giving them away just to talk to you about current products, most were less than 64 meg but a few were dangling 128 meg for your attention. WOW 128MB=100 floppies.
-
no usb key over here either

Where is that blasted drive. M$ said 8 weeks for delivery back in Febuary. I don't even care about the drive, actually, I just want it delivered.
-
Let's go and picket MS for our drives.
What do we want? Flash drives! When do we want them? NOW!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't know what I'll do with mine. I already have one that's really cute that I'm afraid to carry around unprotected. I suppose this can be my ugly drive that I can allow to get scratched. It'll also make my Fairybit feel cuter.

Just got an email from MS saying that supply is depleted. looks like Im SOL, what a waste of time.

Got the same email here...Microsoft SUX!!!! See below:
Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Solved Windows® licensing promotion. We've received your request for more information to help clarify Microsoft® Windows Desktop Licensing pre-loaded on the USB drive. Unfortunately, this Mystery Solved promotion was available in the U.S. only and while supplies last. Supply is depleted at this time, so we encourage you to please utilize the online alternative today.
Simply download* the Windows Desktop Licensing reference files directly at:
www.microsoft.com/mysterysolved/corp
To help simplify Windows Desktop Licensing, keep these points in mind:
There are two legal ways to acquire a full Windows Desktop license: through your hardware vendor (OEM/System Builder) or Full Packaged Product.
Volume licensing covers Windows Desktop operating system upgrades only.
OEM operating system licenses live and die with each PCthey are not transferable.
Again, thank you for your interest in Mystery Solved and for helping us spread the word about proper Windows licensing.
Sincerely,
Microsoft Corporation -
Well thats fine, im in Canada. Not that I really wanted it.
Atleast they sent me an email and for me thats what counts -
I got the same email today and seems everybody got that email too. Whats on the earth Microsoft cannot afford that giveaway.
Is not worth waiting so long -
Wow this is really frustrating! I think I just lost respect for Microsoft... or did that happen a while ago
-
Same here... I actually did it using 2 emails & addresses, 1 home & gmail, and 1 work & work email, but I only got the depleted email on my home one. I wonder if they're sending this only to businesses? They could do like, maximum of 5 flash drives per domain, which would effectively weed out all the gmails & hotmails & aols, etc.

LOL as i was reading everyones posts about having recieved e-mails saying your SOL with the drives, i realized "hey i didnt get one? maybe i am one of the few who will actually get their drive?". shortly thereafter i remembered i switched ISPs and with that i switched e-mail addresses!
DUUUUUURRRRRRRR
