This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    No many details here, but a lunchtime trip to Office Depot to look at the ThinkPads on display resulted in a very enthusiastic (and nice) OD employee blurting too much information and saying they'd be selling some configurable laptops with 512MB of memory at the end of next week for $400. That's more memory than the rumored 256MB HP laptop from Wal Mart, he didn't say what brand this would be though because he "wasn't supposed to tell."

    Looks like $400 is going to be the price point for cheap laptops next week though.
