The Lenovo Outlet has several NEW ThinkPad X300 ultraportables starting from $1225.00. When these were introduced in early 2008, they were priced at $2500+ and the current X301 model, with similar specs, is $2200 or more!

These are NEW systems with the following specs-

    Intel C2D SL7100 (1.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 4mb L2)
    Windows Vista Home Basic
    13.3" WXGA+ (1440x900) LED display (300-nit)
    1GB DDR2-800 RAM
    64GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
    CD-RW
    3-cell Battery
    1-year Warranty

There are others with higher spec levels...it's a pretty good deal on a ultra-ultra-portable...even if its not the latest (X301) thing! :D

A Lenovo dealer (I'm not sure if it was officially Lenovo or IBM or not) in there eBay store had a slightly better speced version (DVD/CD-RW, 2GB RAM, 3 year warranty) of the X300 for about $1275 back before Christmas. That added to the Live Cashback was a awesome deal! (~$1085). They probably still have some, but without the Cashback it's not quite as good.
