    Ordered a computer from lapmonster.com. Found a great deal and went for the homerun. Starting to think i struck out. Really worried that this site is fraudulent and my computer will be a no show. Has anyone ever ordered from this site? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    man i sure hope theyre legit. the money was deducted from my account and there is absolutely no shipping number at all. i only get recording machine to leave message when i try to get a hold of them and they have not returned any of my emails. money gone yet nothing to track! thanks for the help though....comments and opinons greatly welcomed.

    If you used a credit card or a check card with visa/mastercard logo, you can always call your bank to reverse the charge if its a fraud.

    Well, here is the latest from lapmonster.com. Ive been crossing my fingers and hoping i would receive a tracking number for the HP8710w that i ordered. and they recently sent this message...

    "Hello Aroxnus,

    Please note, the tracking number will be sent within 24 hours as the
    shipping department had a bug with the labels scanner. It is being
    fixed and they will scan the labels copies and tracking # will
    automatially sent to the customers.

    The status of my order has switched from "processing" to "delivered".

    What do you all think? Could it be legit...or do they just want more time to haul in orders before they vanish?

    well it's been 24 hours and still no shipping number. better burn all the ropes in the house while i still have some hope of getting my computer.

    You may want to Google the contact number used by "Lapmonster" on their website 866-582-2607. That number and the 8721 Santa Monica address has been used by numerous short term web retailers with names like "E-Lectronix.com, Cameralead.com, Smartcamera.com", etc. Also having the website domain registered to an Appt address is shady along with allot of bogus credentials on their site "Inc 500". I would contact your credit card company ASAP

    Contacted my bank and gave them a heads up. They also dont have much confidence in delivery. They can not act on the deal until the estimated time of delivery is up. Their website says 4-10 business days and i ordered on the 23rd so I have to wait. I am not giving them a minute longer than ten days. The bank said unfortunately it is not uncommon online. They will open an investigation with other agencies and file for fraud. I really hope I am the only one going through this.

    Well what little hope i had left is gone. Theyre telephone number is no longer connected. Seems like theyre picking up and going. Would be nice to see them get caught. Hope investigators catch them.

    You are not alone i also ordered from www.smartcamerastore.com.(the same company) They havent sent my camera. Here is my order history.I dont know what i will do?

    12/26/2007 Delivered Your Order has been delivered by our own shipping service due to the item has been broken before the USPS picked it up, so we had to wait for the new item and shipped it with our van.     Feel for you brother. If you used credit card contact your bank. They should activate a fraud case. Might have to do some paper work but definitely worth it to send the hounds. Hopefully everyone who has ever ordered from them will read this and add their comments. I doubt anyone has ever received anything from them. If someone has and is reading this, please chime in. Ive given my bank a heads up already. If it makes you feel any better...karma will catch them......10fold baby!!!!

    have you heard anything from LAPMONSTER yet?

    I also ordered a notebook from their store on Dec. 28th and I didn't receive a shipping number, they don't answer phone calls or emails ,,, nothing.

    Hope you have good news.

    can not get in touch with them. i am wondering if anyone has ever received anything from these guys. i also ordered a laptop but ive yet to receive a tracking number or anything. 3 of their 4 websites have closed as well. phone number doesnt work and ive sent a gazillion messages...all with no response. losing hope. will be filing a police report soon.

    Not to make them feel bad or anything, but I'd have to agree. If you find a store that you've never heard of before, I would google search them first and try to find out whether they were reliable before I'd give them my credit card.

    When I was considering buying an Asus that's the first thing I did when I'd heard about GenTech computer for the first time.

    On the bright side, like others have said, just call up your credit card company and explained to them, what you've explained to us and you should get your money refunded.

    hey gang,
    i did receive my money back from my bank. police report was filed and i hope they catch those bums. im really glad my bank was helpful and understanding. the worst part about this whole ordeal, aside from losing my money, that darn website is still up and there is nothing we can do to stop them from continuing to steal money.

    Yeah, i checked the site out earlier. Maybe you can notify the registrar(godaddy i think it was)? They maybe able to do something about the site, as if they are notified that they are either hosting a fraudulent site or supporting them by keeping the domain active. Not sure what they would do, but I'm sure that if godaddy is the host, then they would remove the site as they do not want to be caught hosting a site that is known to be fraudulent.

    I called my bank and stopped payment. Their phone does not work, fax no reply, other numbers always busy. Hope you used a credit card.
