It's still a quality laptop with a rock solid operating system. And this is still $1,000 cheaper than the new ones.

It doesnt even look like the last model to me it looks even older but I guess its the last one since it has a 8600gt in it. Guess the egg's pictures make it look different. I was expecting a thin metallic looking MBP.

For that price I would be ok with it, the full MSRP for a MBP is way too much.

I agree. In most, if not all cases, the full MSRP for a new Mac is way over the top, considering if you were try match it, RAM for RAM, HD for HD, Video for Video, with a PC machine which will cost half as much, in some cases.

For those claiming that Macs are good quality machines, take a walk over to Macrumors.com and see all the complaints about shoddy workmanship, slopping manufacturing and major defects.

I purchased a Macbook last December...thought I would go Mac and never go back. I am looking to sell it right now. I just don't see the benefit to having a Mac. Perhaps I am missing something...

I have seen some very nightmarish posts about MPB even on these forums people doing 3 or 4 exchanges for a working unit that does not have a yellow screen or some other major defect. Plus like you said the hardware is 99% the same so your just paying for the right to use OSX and the MAC name so its sooo not worth it. But its hard to express that to MAC fans as they can never admit it.

Ever since mac started running windows, I knew it had to be possible to do the opposite and it is... so if I wanted OSX bad enough I would be using it on my PC machine for 1/2 the cost.

Id buy the OS, and could care less if your "allowed" to use a PC to run it. If they can run Windows then it has to work in reverse or its blatant prejudice in my opinion and just apple trying tooth and nail not to lose the only thing they have that allows them to sell so many units and at such a high cost, the entrance fee for OSX.

Soon as I get my EEE back from RMA this is on my to do list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOfZ0cPoZFY
