Definitely still a good deal but 146 feedback, even 100% positive, always makes me nervous on eBay.

Yep. Hard drive, RAM and network card are there. When I had mine opened up it looked like you can remove the heatsink assembly and replace the processor if you wanted.

Didn't you buy the dv6-6135dx on the forums as well? Are you just snatching up all of the Llano notebooks or something?

    Lol :D

I paid for it, and then the seller cancled on me. I'm kinda glad he did cancel, this laptop is $55 cheaper and is more than fast enough for me.

If I had the money I'd get the A8 version to have as a second notebook. My A4 model runs very cool, but I wonder how the cooling is on the A8 version.

Are you sure? Someone in the AMD thread in the hardware forum said it might be possible since they use the same socket.

Not really. You still have to pay $79 for the warranty. Plus the laptop may have minor dents and scratches per description. I can get a brand new on at newegg for $499 and free shipping. With tax and warranty that comes to $580. I would gladly pay the extra $100 for a brand new one.

I am fairly certain that it comes with a standard one-year warranty through Lenovo. The $75 is for the SquareTrade warranty.

Both my brother and mother have refurbished Lenovo laptops. Each came with a one year warranty, so I assume this model will be the same.

My refurb Lenovo has (well, had, until I voided it by taking the thing apart and swapping the CPU) a factory 1-year warranty. It also looked brand new upon arrival, no way to tell it was refurb.

Well the one I ordered just got here and I have to say it is a very stylish laptop, especially considering the price. I didn't get it for myself but I am certainly liking playing around with it. Unfortunately there are two dead pixels fairly close to the center of the screen. I am contacting the seller about getting a replacement but if they don't I am sure Lenovo will fix it, I just don't want to go through the month-long process of shipping it back to them, them fixing it and then them shipping it back to me.

Mine arrived today as well. Very little bloatware. At first, the wireless card couldn't pick up my network, but it turned out the antenna wasn't attached to the network card correctly, so it was a very easy fix. Typing this on it :)

I can't remember my Samsung Series 3 temps. I just played about 10 minutes of Far Cry 2. Advanced settings were on medium, 1024x600, DX9. I was getting around 60 FPS. I'll use FRAPS later, when I have time.

Mine looks perfect. There isn't any noticeable damage or scratches.

Pretty cool insides :D Would you like me to take any other pictures of it?

Thanks again for all the pictures and hope you guys enjoy your z575's. Its tough to find a better gpu/cpu combo than this for that price. I almost wish I would've gone with the z575 for its stronger discrete gpu than my e425 but I'm broke right now and I don't have much choice in the matter anymore. My 6470M can still manage to play BF3, Crysis 1 & 2, and a few other games at a decent framerate.

    1. If and when any of you guys start overclocking, more specifically the 6650M, would you please share your experiences?

I have tried mimicking what the HP DV6 owners have done using saphire trixx & msi afterburner without any luck in an attempt to overclock my 6470M. Even the slightest change in frequencies would cause a BSOD. Maybe you guys will have better luck than I did and considering how similar our Lenovos are I'm hoping something new can be uncovered.

    2. Lenovo hasn't updated my e425's video drivers since November 29, 2011. The z575's last video driver came out December 30, 2011. At this point I'm convinced we won't be seeing anymore support from Lenovo. I was even wondering if we could update certain parts of the video driver package ourselves. This way our video drivers could be updated through a custom method and have better luck overclocking the discrete gpu. Maybe I'm just daydreaming and wishing for too much.

For example, a while back I tried updating my video drivers using generic AMD video drivers but it would BSOD during the installation and the video drivers would not install correctly. It messed up my computer to the point where the only way for me to fix it was to re-install Windows and the Lenovo AMD video drivers. It sucks that we can't use generic drivers but have to rely upon Lenovo for updates.

So I have been playing around a lot with this the last few days and I definitely noticed it heats up faster than either my K53ta or dv6 did. I wouldn't say it has hear problems, still. Battery life is also much lower than either of my previous Llano quad notebooks but that is to be expected with the much smaller battery.

My experience with Lenovo support was less than satisfactory. I contacted them regarding the dead pixels and they said I could send it in, paying the shipping myself, and they would look at it and maybe fix it. I convinced them to pay shipping but they still said they only might fix it and that it would take up to a month, including shipping both ways. The person I got it for needs it by mid-July so that wasn't really an option. Luckily, the seller seems legit and sent me a prepaid shipping label and is giving me a full refund

Yep, battery life isn't that great, 2.5-3 hours. In Far Cry 2, tgeax tempurature I've seen is 80C for both the CPU and GPU.

Well at least you are getting a refund from the seller. Guess the old saying "you get what you pay for" is proven once again. Looks like Lenovo doesnt really want to stand by refurbished products. Think I will pass even on the new one from newegg and just purchase something more up to date.

It might be a little narrow minded to not purchase a laptop based one review. I'm perfectly satisfied with mine. It has 4 stars on Newegg:

    Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Z575 (12992PU) Notebook AMD A-Series A6-3420M(1.5GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW AMD Radeon HD 6650M

I would also rate the laptop itself very highly, not quite as high as my K53ta but still better than average. It is Lenovo's customer service that I would give a poor rating.

I have this, its a great deal for the price. I run it at 2.6Ghz-3.0Ghz most of the time, but when gaming I drop it to 2.2Ghz-2.6Ghz, so O/C is good. Heck my turbo voltage was factory 1.3875V! Easy as pie to run at 3.0Ghz.

Temps on normal profile are solid, runs through daily task at 45-50 degrees and occassionally heats to 60-65 when some turbo action is necessary but cools down quickly. Currently at 48 as I type this.

Temps while gaming on the latter profile vary based on game. Skyrim runs medium-high settings at 76 degrees, while CS:S in a 16 bot match (max settings) reaches 85 degrees. Nexuiz reaches 90 within half an hour on medium settings with 60FPS setting. Might turn it down to 30FPS and/or run the CPU at 2.2-2.4Ghz for that one.

I run Dolphin at a constant 2.6Ghz, and that heats up to the high 80's in games like Prime (which btw I don't have running smoothly yet anyhow). Lighter games like Zelda TP hit mid-80's at best and run near perfect.

Battery is pretty crappy, but making an underclocked/undervolted profile with turbo off and max speed 1.6Ghz will probably net 4.5hrs. Haven't tested the battery much yet.

On a final note, with the CPU overclocked the HD 6650M can leverage framerates between the GT 540M and GT 550M which is pretty dang amazing for a $500 laptop. The CPU benches in the 3400's at 2.6Ghz-3.0Ghz (Passmark CPU Mark) which puts it on the level of an i5-2450M on average, or i7 740QM.

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention. This processor is overclockable in Linux using TurionPowerControl! Yay! Works well.

True. I am sure its a fine laptop. But I am not to impressed with abaddons treatment for warranty work. I can only assume that it has to do with the fact that it wasnt bought through Lenovo directly and that it is an older configuration. I could be wrong.

If it's the A6 version $500 is definitely worth it IMHO. Often the A4 went for $449.

Agreed. I just ordered one. Seems like a good deal to me. My main use will be light gaming and general purpose (web, email, photo/video, music, etc.). I have a bigger, beefier gaming rig, but I find I often want to play some older games on my general purpose laptop and the one I have now is not up to it. So, for me, this should do the trick.

In general, I looked at a lot of potential choices and for overall bang for the buck, I could not find anything better (without paying more). Sure I'd would love to have a 650M and Core i7, but those were at least $250-400 more. And, realistically, for my purposes, not needed and not worth it.

This rig should game fairly well, it's a good card for this res screen and I think the A6 is enough CPU for my needs. Not a whole lot of laptops with a decent card in this price range. I was surprised, actually, to find it. My only concern was the display, so fingers crossed on that. Will be my first Lenovo. I value quality and reliability highly, so hoping it scores well there. Seems to have a good rep.

But, for $500, hard to go wrong with these specs, I think.

Newegg just had one open box for $399 -- darn it. Oh well. Mine should be here Monday, hopefully. If no issues and reliable, I will be very happy. Great feature set for the price. Curious to see how well the "dual graphics" mode works.
