gosh, with the number of devices coming out like this and as they become more and more sophisticated and easier to use with user friendly software I can only think TiVo is doomed...
-
I already think it pretty much is, due to the PCI cards and ATI AIW cards. You can add TiVO features for 40.00 for PCI card and just get a larger HD and you've got your own TiVO. Of course this is for a desktop, but eventually they will come out with something just as convient for a laptop so you don't need the external box, much like a couple of the Sager laptops.

Is the ZX5000 a XPMCE laptop?
I have been looking at the Toshibas with TV tuners. Looking for alternatives to look at too. -
I got an Asus TV-Tuner PCI card and it works pretty well, but the quality was lacking. I got snapstream beyond tv 3, though, and it has a very tivo-like interface. Tivo still has the best video quality.

the other quality is probably just as good however your resolution is probably turned up much higher on your computer than on a tv. TVs are usually either 640x480 or 800x600 whereas most people's pcs are much higher thus it will look fuzzier when you try to expand the same image to a finer spread.

The resolution is fine, I'm just talking about the color. I have a very good monitor, and i compared live feeds on a TV and on the computer. Flesh tones are brownish, and the overall picture is less vivid. Find screenshots before you settle on a brand, trust me.

Backing up your statement though, the pixels on lcd monitors are more clearly defined, making pictures look slightly granier.
