I've noticed that a lot of times when NewEgg has a sale on an item, the price for shipping that item increases. Does this trouble anybody else?

This is typical practise among many onliners. Ofcourse I hate it. But typically shipping is cheaper with newegg.com. But recently they started UPS instead of Fedex as default free shipping option, which I hate most. Fedex typically used to deliver a day before scheduled date, where as UPS may or may not deliver on the day it is supposed to or come very late around 7:00PM or 8:00PM.
    UPS really sucks bigtime.

    Hmmmm..... UPS.. FEDEX....

I think it depends... I have used both UPS and Fedex a lot (and also truck-shipment for large item delivery).

Fedex has been the most on-time delivery among the carriers that I experienced (including Post office...)

However, the UPS seems getting better and better, their tracking system is fairly acurate and real-time and their overall shipping term is getting shorter and shorter... I think maybe it depends on the region...

Fedex has been faster and still slightly faster, but UPS is getting faster. Then most of all, the final shipped "parcel" is pretty in-tact from UPS, while Fedex often mess up the package pretty horribly.... (the content was ok though...)

I have had much better luck with fedex. Faster and much cheaper. Once I was sending a rather large box across the country and Fedex was about half the price of UPS. My girlfriend has sent many packages of various sizes between Washington DC and Chicago and Fedex has always been cheaper and never a problem with damage.

newegg and others fail to understand we spend more time trying to save mony on shipping than the item itself. At newegg every item carries it's own shipping cost and it doesn't matter if you combine them into a single shipment or not.

So why not just include the shipping in the cost of the item and call it free shipping and stop making me think about it.

Actually...I just bought two memory sticks and a firewire cable from Newegg. The memory chips were listed as being $4.99 for shipping. I bought two separate ones. The cable had a shipping charge of $3.99. My total shipping on my order was less htan $10.00...so obviously it did combine shipping. I think it varies for product...but many times my final price at newegg has been less than I previously calculated, due to shipping discounts.

Also...I ordered mine via UPS 3-day shipping. Placed order in the evening(5:45pm EST). It got processed in California about 30 minutes later. Shipped out around 2:00am the next morning, arrived in Louisville at 6:00am. Was Out for delivery the next morning. So 2 days and I had my memory. That's pretty fast in my opinion.

I've found that UPS/Fedex just vary. Depends where it's being shipped from and what you're getting.

But I've found newegg's shipping to generally be pretty good. Sometimes I find cheaper...but it's usually a good deal.

also, do the prices on newegg include tax already so we pay price + shipping, or is tax added at the end? because it says TOTAL is the price + shipping...didn't mention tax
