For those who thought that 29.99 was too expensive for a SanDisk Kruzer 8gb USB drive last week, here's another deal...this time from NewEgg.com:
Kingston DataTraveler I 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) Model DTI/8GB
$19.99

It's a pretty good deal, I've seen the same one at the Future Shop nearby. Although I would like to point out that write speeds are not a strength for Datatravelers

Every time I see one of these for so cheap I go MAN I SHOULD BUY THAT. But currently I carry around two 4GB flash drives (different uses for each) and neither is more than 2GB full. (one is about 1.8GB, the other only around 700mb). This would be like when there was that awesome deal, TWO 1GB flash drives for only 30 dollars! (back in the day... lol) I jumped on that, but as I already had a 1GB flash drive at the time and no use for them, I ended up giving both away. I'm not eager to make the same mistake
Just a thought for anyone considering purchasing. Consider how much of your current flash drive you use. -
Thanks, smooth. I wasn't really familiar with Datatraveller...Thus far, I have only used SanDisk and GeekSquad USBs.
I may pick up a couple of these though. -
I doubt many people even need the full 8GB.
Just a few weeks ago frys had a 4GB Emprex for 7 bucks AR...I forgot to pick it up tho =(
Heck, even before that frys had a 2GB Emprex for 2 bucks AR. -
Of course, I go in there and dig around, but you really have to have the time to invest to get the really good deals there.
A few years ago, they had this trick they would play with returns at Frys. You would go to the return counter, where they would process the return and give you a large 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper with the return details. If you paid with credit card, a lot of people assumed that the return was processed right back on to your credit card. The returns people would not tell you that, to get the credit put back to your card, you had to then stand in line at the regular registers and have it processed by the cashiers. Who knows how many thousands of people walked out thinking that they had gotten credited, and never realized that it never happened.
They have since changed their policy. I am sure they were taken to task on this.
In short, Frys is a store I love and hate. Good selection of some hard to find, arcane stuff, but VERY quirky. Hit and miss. -

Yes, I am sure they have been spanked over some of their practices. LOL
