Honestly, 50 dollars is such an insanely low price... if you're considering an upgrade it should be a no brainer. You can't really upgrade anything in your laptop for 50 dollars: any high class HDD's will be 80-100 and SSD's are all going to be more, even the smallest ones will come near 50.

Bare in mind that this is with mail in rebate but still, I'd love to see this be a trend.

Yeah, in late 2009 $400 for 8GB DDR2 RAM was 'an insanely low price'. At least it was worth the ~60% performance improvement I got for my usage pattern.

For $55 today (and DDR3 at that...) it should be illegal to sell a notebook with less than 8GB RAM.

I still contend that SNB is more stable/faster/'comfortable' with Win7x64 and 16GB RAM (haven't had the chance to try 32GB yet).

I'd prefer to have 16GB of RAM and part of me is holding out for it drop substantially.

Well you can...if you want to pay 4400 for 2 x 8 GB sticks.

This again shows we should all just have 8 GB standard.

    It's more like 1,200 for 2 8GB sticks I believe. 600 a piece.

I'll probably buy 8GB of RAM 4x2 in July.

I grabbed this deal, hopefully the re-bait doesn't fail like a lot have lately.

Its practically a crime you can get a good brand for this price but all the OEMs charge far more to upgrade built to order laptops.

Or if you have a machine with for slots... I have 16GB on my desktop :) Although even then 8GB chips are not all that bad looking at server memory (future plans) its like $200-250 for an 8GB chip.

last i checked it was 6-800 per chip.

And yeah, I wish I had 4 slots. I'd have 16GB right now for sure.
