Backordered but still orderable.
Amazon.com: OCZ Technology 512 GB Petrol Series 2.5-Inch SATA III Synchronous(MLC) Solid State Drive PTL1-25SAT3-512G: Computers & Accessories
They also have a 256GB SSD for $157 if you like paying more for less.

Something doesn't make sense about that link. The product description reads as follows: "OCZ Petrol 2.5" 64GB SATA III Solid State Drive
-
I agree, very funky, but the part # is the 512GB version, and Amazon has a great return policy. I got one just on the chance it may work. If not I will return it. And they don't charge you till it ships.
-
It won't let me order the 512gb but the 256gb is still available. Here goes...

Ordered the 256gb as well to see what happens.
-
I'd say clear from anything related to OCZ. They have a terrible reliability record.
-
Ordered the 256GB one for $158. Might be a price mistake, but we'll see. Looks too good to be true, but Amazon does have a good return policy.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if our orders get cancelled. I would be REALLY surprised if they actually shipped out these SSDs.
SlickDeals already killed the deal: OCZ Petrol SATA III 256 GB SSD for 158$ @ Amazon.com - Slickdeals.net -
Well, I ordered a 2nd one, just in case
.
Hot diggity damn, I hope these do ship. I'd throw both of these in my MBP and RAID0 them for MAXIMUM AWESOMENESS. -
I really want to buy 10 of them
EDIT: The 256GB model also has a different description:
-

-
-
I think this will be like the touchpad. I won't get one, but it was worth a try. I had to order something from amazon anyway.

Just got my canceled email from Amazon today. Said they were unable to obtain the item to fulfill the order. Anyone actually get one of these? I sort of doubt it...
-
I just got the same email. Oh well. Long shot anyway.
-
Got a cancellation email as well.
Livin' on a prayer. Oh well, maybe next time. -
Those of you who ordered and got canceled, keep an eye out for an email from Amazon. In it, is a $10 gift card code as a "sorry" for the order being canceled. Cool for a few minutes of my time...

DON'T DELETE. This is your Amazon.com Gift Card. -
if you don't get an email, you can talk to CS... I've read about people getting $30+ cards
-
I got the same email. I don't think begging for a $30 card is appropriate, but if they offer a $10 one w/o even asking it is pretty cool. It isn't like anyone was in any way "injured" or "inconvenienced" by the pricing error. Still I appreciate that amazon sent the $10 card. Amazon has great service, I buy way too much stuff there. I accidentally bought a digital download game without intending too, and they immediately (after 1 email) refunded it even though they could have tried to stick it to me. Sometimes I feel like I am robbing my state of tax revenue with all my online shopping, but amazon will be taxed eventually so I enjoy it while it lasts.
