IIRC, they have the previous-gen Sandforce controllers (not SF-2281), so I'm not sure if I'd use one myself.

At any rate, they're sold out and it's gone back up to regular pricing.

They are SF-2281 according to the documentation. I have the 240GB version of the same drive in my Macbook Pro, running the latest firmware and it is smooth.

    I stand corrected then.

The earlier Sandforce controllers were slower and caused most of the issues that give Sandforce a bad name in the SSD marketplace. SF-2281 seems to be a much better improvement over the first generation and aside from speed gains, it's also been picked up by Intel, which usually means reliability in the SSD space.
