Shell shocker deal this morning for people looking to get SSD. $159.99 without rebate is still a great price.
<strike> LINK</strike>...the "shocker" is over but the price didn't change, lol. New LINK.

I hope someone was able to take advantage of it!

Just to point out, the $30 rebate is a Prepaid Visa card not a check/cash.
Actually looks like you can request a check if you call Visa. -
Thanks for the tip Mandrake, been in the market for SSD, just on the fence about price. $129+free shipping and no tax was too much to pass up.

I'm really on the fence - I want one for my desktop, just not positive if this one is good enough.

I got a $50 prepaid Vista debit card a few months ago; I brought it to Bank of America and they cashed it for me, no questions asked. -
Been reading the OCZ ssd forum and it appears the Summit series ssd uses a Samsung controller. Samsung is yet to issue firmware updates to address degradation issues. Samsung says it will have firmware by the time Windows 7 is released. Users of the Summit series are reporting performance degradation to levels in the 20mb/s range.
-
Here's another good SSD deal if you don't like the OCZ. LINK -
You have the Vertex series with Indilinx controller?
I already bought the OSZ Summit and not particularly worried about the firmware update as they said it would be forthcoming prior to Win7 release. Already shipped too! -
No I have the Samsung PB22-J which has a Samsung controller. When Dell was selling the 256GB drive for $479 that was by far the best price/performance ratio out there.
-
From what I've been reading the larger capacity ssd's are not having the degradation issues as rapidly as the 60-80gb models.

This was potentially a good deal for a certain sect of people. But if you missed this deal dont sweat it as I am pretty sure we are going to see lower prices and higher performance on the SSD market very soon.

DEACTIVATED ITEM Can't write a review about what a dud it is either since it has been deactivated. Limited replacement only--no returns.
My 320gb 7200rpm hitachi performs better than this pos.

OK, I fixed it thank goodness. Had to go into device manager and uninstall Nvidia atapi ata controller, check box, delete drivers after a couple reboots microsofts ata default drivers installed. Now it's working.
-
Nice man, looks like it was a good deal at 130 huh?
-
I think so for the time being.
-
Ello, was wondering if anyone had the link or pdf for the rebate? Any help would be great, thanks.
**thank you. got it
