yup the promo code definitely doesn't work on newegg.ca...

That said is the vertex worthwhile or should I just go straight to the intel?

Newegg has the 120GB for slightly under $350, which is a slightly better deal per GB (unless you don't want to spend that much for a SSD). Otherwise a good alternative to the Samsung 64GB SLC, at that price point.

    Fan-freaking-tastic.

Intel is still better but most people don't want to spend $360 for their first foray into the SSD market. Check out this video, here's me searching my entire hard drive, check out the speeds:

I am one of those who are reluctant on spending $300+ on a SSD, my actual goal is to try one first and then upgrade to a much higher one...

These SSD's aren't worth it. Come find me when 256 GB is ~150 bucks

Good point there...thing is as most of us performance is a must, I say that when you pay $1,200+ in a laptop, performance should be on par with the price. Also, SSD technology is quite new so price is right there in the spot...remember when new memory ram was released, etc, etc, etc...when a 256gb ssd around $150 appears, that would mean that something even better is out already...

Isn't OCZ supposed to be releasing a new model sometime soon? I'd like to get into SSDs soon.

OCZ Summit on a Samsung controller. Preliminary results (Basically, Anandtech) indicate it has higher sequential performance but lower random performance than the Vertex.

I do see your point, but at the same time, with as much of a difference as an SSD makes in day to day operation, it's worth it for a lot of people. I'm certainly enjoying my SSD far more than my marginal upgrade to the video card in my sig.
