OMG!! single 4gb @ 800mhz sodimms $56 USD in Mexico!

Boy I wish I could run 8gb RAM in my laptop. However due to the very esoteric setup with two GPUs, there is simply not enough addressing space which creates conflicts. So it looks like 4gb will be my max. Although hmmmmm.....I wonder if 6gb would work? i should have tried that combo when I had the chance instead of just putting in 8gb total. darnit!

 

UPDATE:

This is the shipping status, I got it using the number of shipping he gave me.

Dude I had to remove the other Sodimm because errmm the other was PC-5300. and this piece of glory is PC-6400.

Im willing to buy BUT:

-Be aware that sending to USA or other country would add more costs, also you have to pay the shipping to my house :S.

-I have to ask my cousin if I could use his paypal account, any other idea of how to send money to Mexico????

I sent an email to the seller requesting more memories and this is what I got:

Le informo tambien que lamentablemente ahorita no tengo mas memorias en stock, pues vendi todas las que tenia de 4 GB y la que le mande a usted fue la ultima que quedaba.

Ya estoy hablando con un proveedor pero no me garantiza el abasto pronto, pues no han resurtidos las unidades en los lugares donde el las conseguia y no le tienen una fecha de resurtido.

Tambien tengo otro cliente del DF al que le vendi 2 unidades que de igual forma hablo con compañeros y levanto un pedido de 10 piezas, con opcion a muchas mas, pues quiere que sea su distribuidor exclusivo,pero le comente lo mismo que a usted, que en este momento no puedo surtir.

To be honest I dont think the memories are stolen, this seller also sells harddrives and many other ram sticks, he sells them with boxes etc, but in this case the seller said that these were OEM.

 

Very difficult to order.

Electronics being sold on the gray market for very cheap are usually either fake or stolen. No stereotyping here, except from you. In fact, who mentioned them being from Mexico as a reason for them being stolen? Seriously, you're the ignorant one.

 

I think you guys are making it racist because if the seller was from the USA, no one would even think of calling this stuff stolen. I like to think of the best of people. Call me ignorant if you like, but I will not just sit here and let people bash someone who they haven't even met (the seller).

MexicanSnake has had the most interaction with the seller and he doesn't think they are stolen, therefore spreading opinions "openly" of how they are stolen is just rude. Would such actions be acceptable in the marketplace forums here? NO! If you don't like something, you use PM's or something else. I understand the need to warn people of shady people who do sell stolen stuff, but I feel that this is not the case.

 

Sorry, it does not matter what country the seller is from to me. $56 for a 4GB SO-DIMM is cheaper than a site like NewEgg pays for them in huge bulk, talking hundreds or thousands of modules. It's not bashing the seller, it's asking an extremely valid question. These same modules sell for $300+ elsewhere, where did this seller get the magic deal?

Like I said. Extremely cheap electronics on the gray market are almost always stolen or fake.
Because the seller is not a member here, discussions of the legitimacy of the items are perfectly within bounds, as they are in the interest protecting NBR members.

 

Anyways, I am sure MexicanSnake and all the others who bought them are extremely happy with their purchases, regardless of how the seller got them.

 

I'm sure they are too. If I was offered a $56 4GB DDR2 SO-DIMM I wouldn't ask many questions.
But speculation on their true source is perfectly fair and within bounds.

O wow... I never though someone would call me racist for questioning the legality of them LOL. First of, I never once said anything about his race, I was talking about PRICE only. As hep brought up, these go for much more from places that buy in HUGE bulk, this guy seemed like he only had 10-30 (Im guessing off what I read, and what was said about a request from people for 10+ more, but it could of been he only 5 or less maybe) and he is selling for that cheap.
