I am curious as to how I would find a company so that I could buy off lease laptops. I see many etailers on ebay advertising refurb off lease laptops.
So now I am wondering who/where are all these people buying these laptops from? I would like to refurb! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Tom

    Thx Kdawgca,
I guess what I am looking for is the opportunity to buy notebooks in lots at reduced prices so that I can refurb them. Notebooks like the dell latitude d600,610 or the hp nc6000. These commonly sell on ebay for about $325-$375 refurbed. So ideally, I would need to buy them cheaper than this. Any ideas???
    Tom

I see a couple of D600 for $343.00 w/o OS on DFS but since you needs more than a couple, I would look at govt auction sites like http://www.govdeals.com/eas/.

There are some more "govt auctions" sites listed in this thread. They may or may not have what you are looking for so dont get your hopes up. Also, remember to use generic seaches(D600, latitude, Dell, HP, etc.)

Thx for the links. I feel it is a step in the right direction. But I feel I am missing something here. I mean I check out some of these etailers on ebay and some of these guys have been selling 100's of dell latitudes. I just cannot find for the life of me how they are obtaining so many laptops at such a low price.

I was curious about a similar thing, but the product was new Dells on Ebay. I finally found out, a guy let it slip, that they have a deal with DELL. You have to somehow get a guy at Dell to believe you can sell a bunch of these and they will supply you and they get to meet some sort of internal quota, and you get to sell great laptops.

I am guessing it is similiar with used leases. Just my guess, Dave

Yeah, its probably something like that. They might get the laptops from a corporations that are refreshing their equipment and its easier for the corps to pay a third party company to handle the "disposal" then doing it themselves(which will cost a pretty penny).

If you plan to sell a huge quantity of items, you will probably need to find a distributor or have contacts but with refurbs IDK.

Yeah, I have read on a few ebay auctions that the laptops are "corporate" off-lease laptops. I just wonder how the etailer found the corporation. It would be too time consuming and cost prohibitive to try to solicit every business that may use a laptop. I feel there must be like a clearinghouse or auction that corporate lease companies employ. Maybe I could try to find which companies are the largest users of laptops and try to inquire within these companies. What do you think-any other ideas? And btw thx again to everyone for all of your help.

    the darlington,
yeah, i've seen on ebay recently laptops with like a pII processor, 128 megs of ram, 9 gig hd and windows 98. this vendor had several of them and some went for over $300.00. I could not believe it. Some people just see a cheap laptop and think BUY! BUY! BUY! I don't know if I should feel sorry for their ignorance or just think of them as fools.
Anyway, as I have previous stated I am looking for dell latitudes or hp nc 6000's. These are still decent laptops with 1.6 centrino pro, 1 gig of ram, 40-60 gig hd's that sell in the $300 range. The cheapest I found today at Best Buy was $500. So I think there is still a market for these laptops. Apparently, there must be a market as well as they sell on ebay.
