Out of curiosity... what if someones college does not offer students e-mail addresses on a .edu domain ? Like my previous institution offered email on a .net domain, and the one before that didn't offer anything at all!

note u have only 7 more days to jump on this deal, it expires on may 16th

Oh wait. I'ma pick this up, tyvm for sharing man!
-
They should be paying me to use that crap, which can easily replace the $300 suites for most home users.
Oh wait.
-
I didn't say screw (I can't spell) them.
State of the Art $60 vs. Very nice free alternative.
If you got $60 and it matters to you, you should definitely get it.
I, personally, use OpenOffice. I simply want to purchase it to give 'er a go and I get sick and tired of all the Microsoft hate.
EDIT:
I would like to point out in hindsight that we're both wrong for even having the OpenOffice v. Word discussion here. This is a place for deals, not software debates. -
There are ways to get MS office 07 for free, too (legally, of course)
I had one for over a year, got in on a MS PowerTogether promo
-
My school was gracious enough to give me a free copy
. I was pretty stoked about it. They gave me Norton Antivirus Corporate 10 also, but I'm not sure if I like it or not.
... I love free stuff. I'm so poor, lol. -
I'm pretty sure if I threw crap in your face you wouldn't love that even though it were free
-
-
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
-
As much as I love free stuff, OO just can`t do all the things MSO can.
60$ is a great deal for anybody not having it already. -
So, I read the rules, but I can't figure this out. Does anyone know if this applies to people enrolled for Fall 2008 entrence?
-
Being enrolled in the future or the past does not qualify. -
lol, I always love the Free Nerd Software vs. Paid Corporate software arguments. If the loss of $60 wouldn't scratch your bank account - MSO is better. If it would, OO is better. End of story.
Actually Panda - I believe that you might be qualified - colleges to not enroll students for periods of 4 years. They enroll you by academic year - so the fact that you are registered and enrolled, this means you have 12 hours worth on classes on your schedule and you have access to all student resources via your school library and email accounts... Means that you ARE a "full-time student". -
fine print states that this purchase entitles you to 25 "program starts" after which you will have to purchase an additional license to continue to use the software. Program start is defined as starting any of the MSOffice suite programs counts towards the 25.
FYI -
Are you serious? I gotta check that out, if you pay 60$ then you have to pay more, it`s a ripoff...
And the usual BS , it`s only for the US -
-
Well, the idea is that since MSO if an international product,it should be an international promotion...
-
If I am reading correctly, then you are correct dtwn83, but you can see where someone would be led to believe there may be another purchase after the 25 use limit is reached.
So the trial is free the offer is for the perpetual license at $59.95
Thanks for the input.

Got lucky, Office 2007 Suite Full Version came with my notebook.
-
. Just not international enough to include you, unfortunately.
Certainly, it can look misleading, that's why I elaborated. No use getting riled up for no reason. -
Peter Bazooka Notebook Evangelist
As much as I frequent this site I can't believe I had never heard of this promotion before, whats more my school doesn't seem to know about it or else didn't deem it worthy of informing us, gonna have to give out some rep
Either way thanks for the heads up, I was using Works since it came with my comp but had been struggling with slight incompatibilities so I jumped at this offer and couldn't be happier (glad I didn't pay $129 for the crappy student version they offer). Also does anyone know if my sister can get this on her computer since she is a student at another school even though we have the same physical address?
-
Odd, we've had a number of threads on it, and I know I've recommended it to students who are heading to college or already inside. Glad you caught it while it was still available.
Tough question. I would think it's possible as they look at your email addresses. Give it a shot anyway. -
I say this is a good deal. OpenOffice screwed me over by messing up my outline format. One day I had notes saved on it with proper outlining, the next day it was stuck in roman numeral format that didn't stop its consecutive numbering down the lines even with indented columns. Never went back to OO after that incident. OneNote is freakin awesome. That program definitely replaced my old way of note taking.
-
It's not fair, my school doesn't give students .edu accounts.
I emailed customer support for the Ultimate Steal, and they told me this:
"As is shown in these terms and conditions, qualifying institutions are
defined as colleges or universities that provide their students with a
.edu institutional email. If your school does not provide you, as a
student, with this type of email address, then they, and, in turn, their
students, are not eligible for this promotion. We apologize for the
inconvenience, but thank you for your interests in our products."
So basically it's my college's fault I can't get it. -
anyone order the dvds along with it? how long did they take to get to your house? its been almost a month since i ordered them.
-
They canceled my DVD order, got an email and had to re-order.
-
This is a good deal
-
-
-
I received an email in my school email account and it told me that my DVD has just been shipped out on May 30, 2008. So I *should* be getting anytime now. God Bless
-
So has anyone who ordered the backup DVD actually received it yet? Supposedly mine shipped 5/19, but as of today (6/11) I have not gotten it yet.
-
Mine supposedly shipped on 5/19 as well and nothing to this day. Emailed CS yesterday and they asked me to confirm address so it can be "re-sent". Bastards.
-
Yeah I emailed CS earlier this morning about it but haven't heard anything yet- I have Office downloaded but still, they should get their act together...
-
-
I jumped on this deal towards the end of last year, or in the first month or two of this year. Downloaded the software, as well as ordered the disc's. I received an email that they had been shipped, however after 2 weeks, still no discs. I emailed CS and advised them of that, and they had disc's out to me within 5 business days.
-
I was emailed back today and told:
"We have requested the backup disk be reshipped to:
Please allow 10-14 business days for delivery. Unfortunately, the USPS
Priority Mail shipment does not have a tracking number associated with
it.
The backup disk arrives in a thin, small, plain envelope- not in a box
or CD jewel case- and may be mistaken for junk mail.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please reply to this
e-mail.
Sincerely,
Chris C.
