Is this actually a good price? I thought so, but asked my brother. He said he could get a full 1080p HD for around 500$ (which i just estimated if i resold the xbox and dvd player).

there have actually been alot of 42"-47" 1080p LCD deals lately. i remember seein a few 42" ones for around $600-$700 usd. so there could be an off name brand tv for around $500.

i posted up some pretty nice deals in a LCD topic, posted in off topics. 46"-47" tv's with 120mhz refresh, 4-5ms response times, 1080p for around $1000.

Yeah but they are some crappy brand. At least we get a decent tv with this deal.

there were so many deals last week i can't really remember them all. the one 42" that i can remember was a 1080p westinghouse for $600.

the 46" and 47" ones i posted up were samsungs. one of them was a ToC model.

Westinghouse tvs suck. I had one and the colors were terrible and it died 13 months after owning it with light use. Good thing i had the extended warranty with best buy and i got a toshiba and it looks 10x better.

well most westinghouse's that i've seen are actually monitors and not true LCD HDTV's. they are hit or miss tho. some are completely satisfied with their's and some die. most TV's today (LCD and monitors) have come a long way tho. i know another buddy with a 42" westinghouse he bought recently and it's been pretty good to him. even while watchin lots of sports and gaming.

i'd personally stick to samsung if i was on a budget. really nice quality for the price. my top choice in LCD's would be the sony bravia series.

You can search google for the ads for most stores. From what i have seen there are no real deals on tvs during that holiday sale.

excellent deal, it's like getting a great HDTV with a free portable dvd player and an xbox arcade for $800. and the shipping is ridiculously cheap. i wish i could convince my parents to get this!

Westinghouse is not bad, I have one and its great. You just got a bad model or something.

Also I looked up this deal and its a 720p TV! Id never get a 42" with only 720p! Also not even for a second would I fathom 720 for any sort of computer use. I love my LVM37W3 37" 1080p for $1000 shipped like 2 years ago. Still doing great. For a 1080p TV this deal would have been decent but for 720 I consider this normal price and not even a deal.

BTW, I did a in depth review of the Westinghouse so its not just hearsay I really ran it thru the paces.
