Steam - The Winter Sale is coming, stop buying PC games! 10-90% off entire pc game collection
Steam is going to start up it's winter sale, which means 10-90% off all games/packages in the entire catalog. If you knew about this before, you'll know about the multiple amazing game deals there were last year, including Bioshock for 5 bucks and a multitude of games for a dollar. Now that the entire catalog has expanded ten times over, you can expect deals on every single game, some better than others obviously.

There is NO OFFICIAL START TIME on this sale. Logic states it'll happen on the 24th just like how it was supposed to happen last year. Due to technical difficulties though, the sale started on the 26th because of a server overload last year. Now that Valve and steam are probably prepared all signs point to the 24th.

Reasons for this specuclated date are
1. Precedent, last year and year before the sale were intended to start on the 24th, of course take into account Valve time.
2. Weekend Deal. This is a two week sale, basically will last for 2 weeks. Since most if not all the weekend deals on steam in the last 2 months have started on Thursday, this is another sign pointing towards a 24th start day.
3. Early Winter Sale, obviously the early part means that they can't use "winter sale" like they did last year. So a second sale is coming.

So please, use this thread or read below and discuss the good games that will be on sale, both well known and indie. There will be something for everyone.

haha, no. But seriously, the deals are supposed to be pretty good. I thought that maybe they would have some lightning deals on steam, so I thought I would give people the heads up as they are looking.

I bought GTA4 and STALKER for ~$9 total. I'm currently only going to commit to a few games on the daily sell countdown thingy. Since everything else will last until Jan 3, I'll check out the other deals at a much later time.

 

I got stalker probably will never play it but for $2.00 there was just no reason to not get it. I would have gotten GTA4 for that price too but I already have a retail copy of it.

Id like Ultimate Doom but $10 is a bit much for a release of an older than the hills game.

 

you should 100% play stalker. I bought it even though I have previously beat it already. It's that good. Think of it as a mix between far cry 2 + good voice acting + FEAR's atmosphere + some rpg elements.

 

The deal on the Eidos pack was too good for me to pass up. I had decided that I was going to purchase Batman: Arkham Asylum last night after completing the demo -- with the Steam sale I got Batman along with 19 other games, many of which I wanted to play anyway (such as the Hitman series & Tomb Raider: Legend) and of course the superb Deus Ex which I already have on disc but it's worth paying for several times over IMO...

 

I can't decide if I want to buy GTA4...I have heard so many mixed reviews on the game for PC...

Any suggestions? Is it worth $7.49? Or, should I hold out?

Does anyone know if the online pc community of GTA4 is alive?

 

Just purchased Defense Grid for $2.49 and it's so addicting. If you like tower defense games, then you won't be disappointed with this.
