I've been on these forums since august when i wanted to do some early college laptop shopping. I ended up buying a dv5t and returning it after some problems.
Anyway, I thought that, with the current economy and advancement in technology, prices would drop by now, but still, nothing? It's about half a year since i started looking thoroughly at laptops and I have not noticed much change.
I've been looking at HP for a while and noticed that the dv5t disappeared, but there is a special edition one? I don't understand why, but since anyway, since i couldn't compare it to that, I went and looked at the dv7t. Basically, i put the same specs as i tried it back a couple months ago, and wow, its still around the same price as before?
I was hoping it would have dropped by some significant amount by now, like at least 100$... but nope.
So, really... what am i waiting for if i want to buy a laptop? Other than wasting away some of the battery life, why not buy now instead of later? I am happy how the laptops perform and their specs, I was just hoping there would be a price drop by now. I still have about 5 months till college, but i'm eager for a laptop, which is why i'm questioning this.
Any info would be appreciated.

Prices don't really drop when it comes to computers, just what would have a year ago been high-end and really expensive, becomes the norm and cheap. (Like RAM, 4GB a little over a year ago was only for those who had $$$, now it's pretty much standard even in the cheapest laptops. Soon enough 8GB of RAM will be cheap and 16GB will be high-end.)

So what you're saying is only the high end things, aka the new technology, drops into the norm, and the norm stays the norm?
