Hi everyone, I am thinking about buying my FIRST laptop through my school since i will be living offcampus next year. During the process, i have couple questions, hopefully there will be someone in the forum could help me out.

First of all, when i visted my school's website, it redirects me to
http://www.lenovo.com/shop/deals/wpi for student discount, the site seems to be operate by Lenovo, i then select WPI recommended T series. and here comes the questions

Question #1. Am I buying from Lenovo or WPI?
Question #2. If i am buying from Lenovo, can I combine the student discount with eCoupon and/or fatWallet? there is a place for me to enter eCoupon at checkout.
Question #3. Do you think the price for the TP T61 15WSXGA+(LEN 64574XU) on the T series page will continue to drop?

the reason i ask question #3 is because, T61 first showed up on the school's site July 17th with no discount at all. On July 18th, all the t61 systems have exactly 20% off. and today july 20th, the last t61 system TP T61 15WSXGA+(LEN 64574XU) changed to about 28% off while other stay the same. i know the price is pretty good as it is, but i am on a tight budget (who isnt :) ) because i had to pay for the rents for July and August even though i dont live there. Also i checked the deals last year, the t60 was on sale at the same page for 1418( the original price is 2299, a 38% off).

Sorry about the post being rather lengthy, Please feel free to reply with what you know, all comment are greatly appreciated. :) Thanks

Hey Iris, as far as i know, sometime Lenovo has partnerships with some colleges, so it gives the students there some special discount. The best way to find out if your school has something like that is to visit your school's website.
Also, Lenovo give out something like a general student discount, basically you go to Lenovo.com and click the Education link under the Solution For column. Hope this helps a bit

yo supercat, you can also call them up to order your laptop and they will give you a pretty good discount too over the phone. i talked with a sales rep and he gave me the example of a $500 laptop getting cut down to $350 with the education discount.

Thanks Finchy, i will make sure i call them before i buy to see if i can get a better deal, but to be honest, i really hope the Lenovo student discount page for WPI students works with AMEX Tailormade and FatWallet :)
