    Don't forget to add another $300 for the Best Buy extended warranty because you really don't want to deal with Razer customer service if/when something goes wrong. Besides, the HP Omen of similar price and basic hardware is still a better laptop. Despite it not having the full metal build, it runs cooler, can actually be undervolted now (whereas Razer locked out this functionality), and includes a 300 Hz screen with MUX switch.

    The Omen is slightly thicker and larger front to back. Its power adapter is more compact, and it comes with a mini-DisplayPort output so you don't need to use USB-C or Thunderbolt. In Razer's defense, its WiFi card is upgradable, which is only possible on AMD-equipped versions of the Omen.

    Still, the Maingear Vector 2 from MicroCenter is a better deal than both of these. Its about the same size as the Razer, has the full 115W RTX 2060, and all of its key internals are upgradable.

    Selling point of the Razer is not price/performance ratio, it’s the chassis. I can’t be bothered to ever use a non-CNC aluminum chassis notebook ever again. The options are Razer or Apple, and since I need more than a Facebook machine, Razer is the only choice. That said, I wouldn’t own one without extended third party warranty unless I picked it up for super cheap. I wish there was real competition in the sense that other manufacturers copy Apple/Razer and use CNC milled aluminum chassis
