I bought the 840 series 120gb here but returned it to swap it for the 840 pro, the normal 840 is way less impressing then the pro version. when i ran as ssd on the 840 it got around 610 points. with the pro it got 1020 points. not that it would matter in real life computering. but also the 840 seris might be less durable then the pro cause of the other chips they used, TLC memory orso hehe but dunno excactly what that is
but the pro version is more expensive not a whole lot but 30 euro's more orso -

WOW! Sick price, i'd picked that up but not sure that I truly need it.
Actually I would use it for storage, not for my OS and programs.
When do these deals expire? -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yeah I paid ~380 for that about like November.

$280 for 500GB looks very nice to me. When I start over filling my 830 256GB I hope prices keep coming down.
-
Maybe Crucial will drop the price of their M4 to match. That's an awesome deal and a solid performer.

Crucial has no reason to drop the price of the M4 - they already perform better than the TLC 840 and only cost ~$60 more than this 'deal' when they're on sale.
While $280 for 500GB seems like a good deal on the surface - I think they are just beginning to be priced at their real worth (at <$150 I'd consider one myself). -

I'm tempted to pick up a 500GB myself, but don't really need it. Always seems I can find a use for them though.
One thing with these drives is to turn on DIPM to reduce power consumption. Otherwise it will draw more power than a traditional 5400RPM spinner.

I got me one to act as an external drive. Absolutely killer price...

they don't ship to europe unfortunately

really great but they charge 56$ for the shipping.... for a 2.5" drive... yeah it must be really big and heavy.
I've received huge things with more then 3kg for much less then 50$. -
Amazon is up to $299 now. B&H seems best bet and says good through March 3 as long as they keep in stock. Might have to pick one up.

I'm thinking of getting the 256GB unit myself. I just ordered an NP9170 yesterday with just the basic 750GB hd. Would this be a good thing to have for when the laptop arrives?

edit: Also, here is a link to another site selling it at 280 with free shipping (since it's over 25 bucks):

It's back down to $279.99 at Amazon. I'll probably pick one up since I just got AHCI working on the Windows 7 side of my MacBook Pro. My main concern was power consumption but with the DIPM tip in hand, I think it's time to pull the trigger and go back to a dual-drive setup.
