Good deal. I just bought a used one for slightly left. I guess I should have waited.

not really a good deal, seagate's barracuda line has been pretty renowned for failure, and it is the main reason why seagate just cut their warranty back from 5 years to 3 years.
The Hitachi P7K500 is a better drive. I never had any problems with it.

    Thanks.. :)

Well, I'm sure someone will be able to use it. What works for one person, may not work for another!

Everyone has their own opinions on different HD's. And, I know someone who has one like this by Seagate..no prob's at all.

If you have or know of some great deals for your Hitachi..then please post it!

I've had nothing but Seagates for 10+ years, and have at least 10 in my house right now, and I've yet to have an issue.

And at Best Buy, we haven't had one returned due to technical issues, or brought back even past the return policy (which people do a lot with other products, including WD and other hard drives, so it's not just a lack of hard drives coming in).

Just putting in my two cents.

Quality in the HD industry has declined ever since companies started making 400GB+ drives. Before almost all HD's were 5/5 stars on newegg. Now look at them

Western Digital's 640GB lineup is quite solid. Some good reviews. I personally have two of the 640AAKS drives in RAID1 and they are great. Best Price, Quality and performance.

I dont trust newegg reviews without first reading them, especially the negative ones.

I've been unimpressed with Newegg's shipping methods for OEM drives, be it a nitpick or not...

Bubblewrap and floating free in peanuts isn't wonderful for that variety of hardware, especially when coupled with the frequency UPS plays soccer with packages.

Yeah their packaging leaves a bit to be desired. When I bought eight of them they package them in pairs with just a layer of bubble wrap between them.
