1.) these are the actual Seagate Momentus drives (3-year warranty), not the Dell Momentus rebranded HDDs. about the only place I know of selling them less than MSRP.

2.) even without stacking, that's a good price. God knows when they'll ship, though.

I just recently scored a seagate momentus 200gb 7200.2 2.5" 16 cache on a 1 day special from dell... The price was an unreal $38.00 and it included overnight shipping w/zero tax... I signed for fedex delivery the very next day !!!

This hdd is now next to it's original equipment identical twin in my 7811fx spinning away happily...

As soon as my experience level is increased enough I'll set them up in raid0...

The op here didn't mention the capacity of the hdd but dell is a good place to watch for "specials"... Thanks...

I just called and they said it is a 30 day lead time for a single drive. If there was a bulk order of 10 or more, then they could process it probably less than 10 days. So either place your order now, and get it in a month, or if there's ten or more people here then we could probably get it in a week. I think logistically that would be too hard though.

    Nice deal!

Raid0 is overrated IMHO. Tried it a couple times on my desktop and didn't seem to improve performance noticeably with every day stuff. It also caused a headdache when I had some Windows crashes and tried to recover. Sadly I had to reformat and start all over. Maybe it's better these days though...

I never had issues with Raid0 per se, just if you have an issue with one drive your data is lost for good. And trying to recover from a crashed Windows can be disheartening to say the least. When I tried to recover it kept seeing them as two separate drives, not as one.

I also never noticed any real world benefit from it. Game levels might have loaded a little bit quicker but you're talking 10 seconds instead of 12 or 13. Big deal.

To each their own. I'm sure it works great though. Just sharing my thoughts on it. It does have its risks of which the reward IMHO is not worth it.

Well the more orders they get the quicker you will get yours. I am going to order mine soon from Dell as long as the price stays there. I'm getting a Dell Studio XPS 13 in about a week. Will just tack that on to my order!
