$100 with the data transfer kit is a heck of a deal. Never used a CMS data transfer kit but I have heard that they work great and are extremely simple to use. I may have to jump on this deal.

    Edit:
Ended up getting one. My current HD is uber slow and I can't afford an SSD of decent capacity so figured this would be worth it. After I resell the data transfer kit and my current hard drive I will only be paying like $20 for this anyway.

Great deal. Mine was 110 on sale.

Amazon took 8 days with free shipping on my last hdd purchase so maybe upgrade it.

Thinking of buying this for my Envy 14 I just purchased last night. Never looked into Hybrid SSD drives. How does this work, is this any good or just some marketed trash. Is there like a small SSD in there where the data accessed most is kept and everything else on the normal HD?

Just read up more on it..That is basically what it does. Anyone know the size of the SSD in this?

Exactly as you said. The 4GB SLC SSD is used as a kind of super-cache that keeps your most-accessed files for quick access.

It's a good investment. Certainly not as good as a regular SSD, but you'll definitely feel the better boot times.

Thanks guys. Pulled the trigger on this. I am a little concerned about the reliability of this drive based on various verified buyers. Seagate just released a new firmware for this drive so hopefully that solved some of the problems.

Got it last night and this thing is fast, or maybe my old hard drive was just really slow. Boot time is about 45 seconds with no optimizing at all. I also can confirm the data transfer works fine with Win7. Took about 1.5 hours to get everything but worked right away. Just put the new hard drive in and everything was fine.

Congrats. Great to hear the positives. How does the CMS data transfer kit work? Did it just clone your HD? I am not familiar with the CMS data transfer kit.

Hey I just received it without the cable? Or any sort of papers or anything, its just a brown cardboard box with the HD wrapped up.

I would contact amazon about the missing DT Kit & advise it was free w/purchase, and you didn't receive any documentation. They will prolly' send it out to you.

Amazon is really easy to work with, and they have really, really good Customer Service. : )

Talked a friend into getting this deal, but he forgot to get the free data transfer kit :(

Sad thing is I did not know his computer was so old it only has IDE! So felt kind of bad that he can not use the drive.

Now I am talking him into letting me build him a new computer :D

Got him a nice AMD system picked for about $350.00 that would destroy most $1000ish store bought systems, so I know he will be really happy with the build.

Did we have to add the data transfer kit into the cart? I thought it was automatic, I have contacted them though.

If you followed a link to the package deal it was automatic I think, but if you went to just the hdd page it was not. I never added it to my cart but pretty sure it was 2 different pages.

Newegg has it now for the same price as amazon @$99.99 with free shipping. Neither include the Data Transfer Kit (that part of deal expired now).
