A great price on this TV....just blows no DP....do they not realize they would sell 4 times as many with DP? Seriously i would be in for one a that price...even though it is not OLED or plasma...at that price i'll take it and use it for the next 3-4 years until those become reasonably price....or i have deeper pockets. Anyways a great screen for programmers....:'( just no DP

its primary design is a low cost TV, not a monitor so it is not too shocking DP is not supported at all, however I assume it had HDMI 1.4 since 4K upconversion devices work very well from the review I read somewhere after a quick search. I would say make sure you can output via HDMI and support the full resolution that way. I can not say for certain since I have never tried UHD on DP but it may be possible to use a DP to HDMI adaptor

i want DP because it is 60FPS :/ I am curious if you can do DP over HDMI 2.0 for 4k 60FPS because if they update it with HDMI 2.0 but no DP 1.2 maybe i can use DP over HDMI

Possibly, I am trying to see if it supports hdmi 2.0 natively because that is 2160 res @ 60FPS

I just wish it supported rec 2020 in the new HDMI and DP standard

yea no that screen is HDMI 1.4

I wonder when they will due a refresh....because if i can get DP over HDMI 2.0 at full res i will totally buy it! Also i need to figure out if my 7970m can suport that res...IIRC almost no GPUs support that res because of drivers but that can change from what i remember reading awhile ago.

interesting...manufacturers maybe able to upgrade TVs from 1.4-2.0 but no guarantee.

A simple adapter will solver your connection woes. As for future compatibility DP? DP is already far superior to HDMI 1.4 and can support UHD @ 60 hz. (but there is no content there) so it is HDMI who will be playing catch up. At the moment virtually no consumers are accessing even 1.4.
