A friendly reminder that Sony's Trade Up And Go Pro ends November 30, 2006.

If you're in the market for a Sony thin-and-light or ultraportable, and have any kind of working portable at home (even a working piece of junk qualifies for the $400 rebate), you'd be nuts not to take advantage of it.

    Deal summary:

"For a limited time, you can you can trade in your qualifying notebook and receive at least $400 cash back when you purchase a VAIO BX, SZ, TX or UX Series business notebook or trade in a Sony PC and receive a minimum $600 trade. Valid for purchases between September 1, 2006 and November 30, 2006."

Just two days to go on this program. If you're buying a Sony, you definitely should take advantage of this.

Since it's the Christmas holiday shopping season here in the U.S., I doubt Sony will offer any similar program until 2007. That's why they're ending this one on November 30 -- all you December purchasers will have to pony up more money.

So, it's like Sony is giving you a discount of $400 or $600 by taking away your working notebook.

I'd rather try to find a deal similar to that without losing my working notebook.

Eh, "any" working notebook qualifies. If you have some POS sitting around in your home collecting dust, you can turn it in and get this rebate.

    That's why it's so good.

    If it's working it's a good POS.
If what you normally do with your notebook is email, surfing, online banking, downloading porno, etc., then there is no need to upgrade.

A lot of other companies are now giving you a discount of hundreds of dollars ($200~$600). So you can keep your good POS and buy another one for entertainment. You now have two notebooks to play with.

Your information is good for some people, but I'd rather keep my old POS and take advantage of other companies incentives.

As a matter of fact, I'll be having two notebooks in 3 days!

Well, to each his own, but your response makes no sense to me. For most people, the reason you purchase a new notebook is to upgrade from an old one. And if you are interested in a Sony laptop, then you should take advantage of this offer.

This is for people who want a Sony in particular. Example: I want to purchase a Corvette, that's what I want. Someone informs me, "but Toyota is having a big sale." Why do I care what Toyota is doing? I want a Corvette, period.

Good -- you play with your outdated notebook, I'll pocket $400 in savings whenever I can, no matter who the company is.

And if a person has no reason to upgrade, then they're not in the market for a notebook and all of the information in the "Bargain" forum is irrelevant to them. That has no bearing whatever on whether this -- or any other -- offer is a good deal. I mean, you do understand the information posted here is for people who do need or want to upgrade? You get that, right?

I don't know why anyone would want Sony and Sony only in particular unless his/her fiance is related to Sony's stockholders. If you can save a decent amount of money with a decent quality notebook, it's ok not to own Sony...at least for me.

I needed a light notebook which I can use simple day to day office tasks and I can travel with. So I bought a $399 Westinghouse notebook.

I now have two notebooks. My older one is a 15.4", processor/memory power horse that's a bit too heavy to carry with me but I do not want to throw away. I mostly use it to watch HD movies in my bedroom.

    Well... :)
