    MSI GX630 might be a little better. The Cpu might scare some people, but it still has great performance...It sells for $799 at Newegg.com

    That's a nice laptop too, but it's 15.4" >2.5kg laptop.

    The Sony SR is a 1.9kg 13" laptop with WLED screen. Very different classes.

    It's good that you got it before it died. :)

    The SR is in a different league compared with that MSI, honestly. It's a compact, business laptop, with WLED screen, while the MSI is a normal, average 15.4 machine. The MSI has an AMD cpu as well, which can put some people off. Not to mention the premium usually paid for having a SONY which makes this deal an even sweeter one.

    How does Sony rank among laptop manufacturers? Are they reliable? My last laptop, which just recently broke on me, was an HP. It was good for the first couple of months, then the fan stopped working, and it went to hell from then, eventually leading to the motherboard burning up. Based on that, I'm not going with HP again. I'm thinking about either getting a Sony, Toshiba or Dell. Just can't decide. Budget is $850.
