I went to Best Buy for the gateway p-7811fx deal, but I saw this at a clearance from $1300, so since I'm not really a gamer, I went ahead with this. I bought this at the San Carlos, CA store, and there were only 5 left, though the rep said that the laptop had been on clearance for about 3 weeks.

This laptop was actually $820, but the guy price matched some other store in San Francisco.

Overall, this system has been pretty nice. The hdmi has been useful as a second screen for work and entertainment. The only annoying thing is that I got used to the lights on the thinkpads so typing in the dark has been quite a challenge.

For my needs (running business apps, watching the ocassional movies), I still think that the Gateway M-6862 was a better deal, but I couldn't find any stores in the Bay Area, CA that still had any of these models left, and I needed something quick.

This is a very nice deal indeed. I would have love to get a BR player on my gateway 6862.
