    Wow, that's a first.

Didn't expect this deal to head into Canada :) I'll definitely be taking advantage of it.

Didn't read the first post then
    Times two

MS said that 'Similar student-focused offers will be coming soon in Canada and France' - it could be something different.

For those interested in the XPS 15z.

I just tried it on the XPS 15z. The price is hiked up. !? It's about $1200 WITHOUT the 1080p screen. With the 1080p screen it's about $1300. Dell is duping us.

If you buy it normally, the base specs + 1080p screen is $1100. So basically you're paying for the xbox 360. FAIL!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if Sony is participating? I'd love a Vaio SA, but it's out of my budget for the time being.

    ^^
Thee only way to get a Sony is through Microsoft store and Best Buy...so until the SA comes to one of those stores (Which I'm guessing is never) you won't be able to. A main reason I got the SC was because of that. I wanted the SB, but The added bells and whistles of the SC sold me. I don't notice a HUGE difference build quality, but it is the same as when you are standing in front of 5 TV's at the store and one always looks better, but when you bring it home it looks and feels great.

I've seen on the MS website its free xbox or 10% off the laptop. Can we get 10% off the m14x?

My mother bought a new Inspiron 15R the other day from Dell using my student discount. As a result, I'm now the happy owner of an Xbox 360. Ordered the computer on Tuesday, got the Xbox on Friday.

I looked into this offer myself but they limit what lines of computers are eligible as well as limiting the options on those computers....I didnt do a price vs price comparison to see if they jacked up the price to cover it but that wouldnt shock me. I was looking at the Dell XPS 15's and they wouldnt let you select the option for the 1080p screen which as many of you know is almost a must upgrade as the 720p screen blows. In the end I just bought a refurb at a great price with the features I wanted.

Would have been great if it was just spend x amount and get the xbox as the initial reports showed.

If your going into Best Buy to buy a comp, it's a great deal.
I do agree, if buying online, then might be cheaper to use promo-codes + coupons

It's already in Canada. My brother is going to purchase a laptop at Future Shop and saw it there.

Agreed if you find something at Best Buy then its nice....walk out with the lappy and the 360...generally the same issues applies....stripped down versions and no choice of options.

I looked at my BB just to see if anything stood out but everyone over the 699 seemed overpriced compared to online prices.

Best Buy raised all of their laptop prices this week to compensate for this deal. I was looking for a laptop for a friend and noticed the change. Said friend works at Best Buy and confirmed the price change.

I was up at BB yesterday and the guy said that, surprisingly, not many people have taken advantage of this. He said his store has only had a handful of people buy laptops over $699 and only a couple of them even knew about it.

Has anyone done this with in store pickup at Best Buy ordered online? Can you do it with .EDU address online and that's it or do you still need ID at pickup time?

Your college gives you an .edu email.
    Like: [email protected]

I think all you need is an .edu email. Although I would bring your student ID if you go into a physical store. No harm in bringing it.
