    I just got a Compaq V2000Z from hpshopping's 800 #

    AMD Turion ML-32
    upgrade to brightview screen
512 MB ram on 1 stick
    60 gb 5400 rpm harddrive
    dvd/cdrw
    wireless
    and 6 cell battery

total after rebate is around 790. i know its not the best deal ive ever seen, but i am pretty happy with it...please let me know what you all think.

also, i am still thinking about the warrenty...what do you all suggest? i am not the most careful person and i have a two year old who likes to break things so i am thinking about three year w/ accident protection for 350, but 3 yr parts/labor is only 130. i have heard some not great things about compaq service...what would you do?

I myself have heard no complaints about Compaqs repair service. I think the deal was okay and that you probably should get some sort of warranty/protection...

For $130 for 3 years... I would say its worth it. Just put it this way... what if it broke after 1 year... what would you do if you didn't have the warranty. But if you did, you could get it fixed no problem. $130 for 3 years extended is very cheap. From dell its usually around $300. The laptop comes with a 1 year warranty, and for $130 extra you get 2 more years. thats $65 a year, a little over $2 a month, and just pennies a day. GO FOR IT!
