I'm looking to buy a nice dell xps 1530 from the dell outlet store this week. They have great deals on them, and if I were to build the same machine it would cost 600 dollars more for brand new. I'm kind of concerned with buying it used buT I'm going to buy an extended warranty on it.

If anything is bad and detected in the first 21 days, I can send it back in for a new one, so I'm glad about that feature.

This come out to be a little of 1300 with shipping, and I couldn't ask for a better deal.

I hope my dad will let me buy it even though I'm using my own money.

Bought an inexpensive Intel laptop and an AMD desktop from them last year, and both have worked great!

Hi, I've bought four different computers from the outlet. I've returned only one. The condition of the four I kept were in almost like new shape, both notebooks and desktops. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again, the deals are great, you just have to shop for a configuration you want and be patient, then when you find something don't wait too long, especially if it is a popular model or is a good deal. They do list some really great deals and at times you have to be lucky to catch the "needle in the haystack."

If the cosmetics aren't up to your liking or something is wrong with the device you can return it within the 21 days, and they do carry the "new" one year type warranty with the option to upgrade.

The only bad thing is you can't change anything about the system with regards to hardware and there are only a few software additions that are allowed. But hey, I shop there to get the most bang for the buck and I save enough to buy the hardware I really want and install it myself.

So the outlet gets my vote...go for it!

oldskool, thanks man. I'm really focused on now looking at the 1530 xps. I guess the only problem would be that it comes with vista, and I"m not sure how my games will run with vista. How can I double boot both xp and vista.

I used another hard drive (an external) to make it a lot simpler, then whenever you start the system, it'll ask you whether to boot in XP or Vista. Otherwise, you just install on a seperate partition, IIRC (that's how it worked for me, but I did it for Vista when I still had XP).

Do you guys think there will be another Dell Outlet deal, or go ahead and buy a laptop now? I haven't been without a personal computer for a while. :D

EDIT: Sorry if it looks like I'm overtaking the thread -- I hope the question helps you out as well. 15% is mighty big if you factor in the savings you already get, though.
