This is true, but and this is the big thing, who would come. I know that of all people only maybe 2 of my friends would come to a Windows 7 launch party...some fun huh? XD
I was tempted to possibly throw one for my school..i know there's got to be some nerds here. XD -
Who's going to bring the BSOD cake?
'kidding, I'm no fanboy of any OS. I just like to poke fun.
Currently running Windows 7 and it has been a rock solid experience so far -
It would be nice if could get your whole dorm involved

Do you think my dorm room would be big enough to host? I wonder what the requirements are - I would throw a party with just one other friend of mine to get a free copy of Win 7.
-
im going to bring this up to my computer engeneering department.
-
Yep, I submitted my "application" last night.
-
Only hosts can get a copy of win 7, but not your invitees?
-

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
Is it me or does this whole thing sound crazy? Why would you want some unknown people coming over to your house just to get some software?
-

I signed up within an hour of the announcement. I hope i get it. Cant be too many other people in SE alabama that cares enough to sign up.
Get to host a party and get a signature Ultimate edition Win7... sound awesome -
-
I'm sure Gophn will end up hosting a party, so I'll just have to sneak into his
.
-
i signed up, you need to invite 9 people to be eligible. i have thought of 6 atm(incl mum and dad) ill invite some hobo over if i need to, ill get a free win 7...
-
The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
Seriously, I don't even think I know 9 people -
Ok so hosts get a free copy of win 7 and invitees get nothing? They'll probably not want to come then.
-
How exactly do they validate that people actually come to your house? I mean, what's to stop me from just inviting all my close friends like usual and saying it's for a "Windows 7 launch party"?
-
I did notice though that they want you to take photos, blog, and (if possible) do a video of the experience so they might be able to verify that way. -
LMAO, your dog and your cat. That's great. But still even if pictures are the way to validate a legitimate party, you can easily take pictures of your friends and call it a day.

I could just ask the boss to let me use the meeting room at the hotel, open it up toss some beer/wine in there and call it guest appreciation night.
I would have 20-30 people hanging out having a good time and none would know my motive to get free win 7. -
I'm still waiting for my free 8mb USB drive from MS
-

I went ahead and applied, and sent my boss the email letting her know what I did, could be fun if all goes well.
I have a big open meeting room space in a hotel
I have a projector and will hook my Wii too it or something to play games
Get some beer/wine and some snacks and just open it to public at the hotel. I'll get 10 people easy. -
-
Nintendo Wii? I think Microsoft will crash your party for not using Microsoft only party supplies -
I will take any reason to throw a party and invite girls over.

-
anyone received anything saying the have or have not been selected for this? when i signed up they said i would be notified by the 17th of this month and its now the 21st... MS, always late. lol
-
Kamin_Majere =][= Ordo Hereticus
I havent received anything either. Of course if you didnt get selected there isnt any reason for them to contact you.
-
from what i remember reading they said they would let you know if you didnt get picked aswell... it's not like its a raffle or anything so it would be nice if they did email us and say sorry but you wernt the lucky one. go buy the OS yourself... lol
anyway the first anyone hears anything please post to let us know.
thanks

I will prolly have a cookout, drink some brews, play some games and demo one of my computers with win 7 so everyone can play with it a bit.
