The Compaq is far superior. Its Core 2 Duo based while that Toshiba is using the older TK version of Turion X2 with crippled 256kb per core L2 cache ( vs 512kb per core on the TL) Plus you have to spend tax on that massive rebate which you could have used to upgrade the Compaq to 2gb RAM.

Compaq is FAR faster, longer batter life, runs cooler.....its just superior.

I would have to agree with Onion. And I don't know if it's just me or anybody else but my experiences with Toshiba's CS totally sucked. I am sending my Toshiba in for second time, and the first incident (Bios password) took me 2 1/2 months for them to replace the motherboard and get my notebook back. All the headache and time I had to go through trying to get my notebook back, it's not worth $100 saving I had. I've told them the story about my first experience, and they assured this time it's not going to take that long. But I'll have to wait and see.
