For gaming, it's not the most hardcore powerful, but it's definitely beats most other notebook rigs...Overall a very balanced rig with nice speakers, many ports and such...

it's one heavy beast. processor could be a bit more beefier and 512MB dedicated along with GDDR3 would be great. but for the price, it's not bad. not bad at all.

That Best Buy price is really really cheap, but it does lack some of what the original X205 had: faster CPU and GPU and an HD DVD drive. The Amazon one looks more attractive for that reason, but it doesn't change the fact that a Sager NP5790 is probably a better product for essentially the same coin.

The clock speeds are 625/700 that means GDDR3 meaning that BB specs are inaccurate I checked rivatuner and verified it on my machine...being that I have the laptop.

just make sure you know the cpu it comes with is a 667 fsb instead of 800 according to intel's info

I'm pretty sure that CPUs of either FSB speed can be used in a Santa Rosa system, and if that is the case, than this system may be capable of being upgraded to a CPU with an 800 Mhz. FSB.

Oh i c. so ya that why it can be offered cheaper...
between 1.6Ghz and 1.8Ghz is just 10% diff in cpu power....
but it could release 80% more power in 8700m gt with that 10% increase from some findings...

well normally the x205 has a t7300 in it.. so thats a large difference going from a t7300 to the t5450...

Where can a Sager 5790 with an 8700M, 240GB HD, HD-DVD drive, 2GB RAM, etc. be found for $1579?

After taxes, the Amazon one is only $80 more.

Really isn't worth it just for the video card, in my opinion. For $1,300 you can get the P200 loaded up. These models of the X205 are essentially stripped of: WSXGA+, good processor. I really just wish Toshiba would offer a customizable X200. I like the 4 speaker chassis a lot. You don't even need externals with those things.

Edit: Also note that yes, it is 12.5 lbs. And no, you don't get an accident coverage warranty. One 'oops' and that's all she wrote.
