I customized the A500 and ended up with a final price of $980.05 (specs are listed below), but I am still not sure about its battery life even with a 12-cell battery or if it will play the latest games like NBA 2K10 or Call of Duty...

A T4300 though? I think I'd forgo the 12 cell battery and get a stronger processor (at least the T6XXX) instead; $980 is wayy too much to be paying for a pentium powered laptop

I agree. I conversed with Serg about this deal and he also thought it was horrible. The Y550 that is being offered by NewEgg is a much better deal, especially since the regular price was reduced by $200 earlier today (after I had said yesterday that I would buy it if it were $100-$150 cheaper).

Oh c'mon not terrible per se. But almost 1K for a pentium seems way too expensive IMO.

If you can put a T9xxx or a P8xxx inside, it could be a good deal (at the expense of the battery)

I mentioned the Y550 w/ i7 that is available on NewEgg for $999, but the Y550p is better, especially the one that costs over $1,200 on the Lenovo website. I applied a 15% coupon during checkout and it bought the Y550p down to around $1,069. I hope a much better coupon will appear soon.

Sorry if I exaggerated your opinion, Serg. But, yeah, it is too expensive for that kind of processor, especially in light of the new processors that are now appearing and will appear in the near future.

Exactly. I agree with you there.

Did you check the ones I sent you? Anyone that appeals you?

I looked at all of them and the Lenovo Y550 is what I like the most. I also like the new Y550p, especially its overall appearance and powerful specs.

I applied a 15% coupon to the Y550p on Lenovo's website (the $1,200+ version) and it bought the price down to under $1100. I am hoping that a much better coupon will soon appear so that the price will come down to one that is economically reasonable.

Have you noticed the smaller y450 with GT240M? Now that is a great thing...strange nobody has reported it

The Y450 with the GT240M is $999, but apply the USP15SVEBIG coupon code and the price comes down to $849.15 for a total savings of $249.85.

The Y450 is interesting, and at least on 14" one can somewhat justify the resolution. It's direct Sony CW competitor and looks to be almost 1lb lighter. Not bad.

Not to mention the better GPU and smaller body. And IMHO better looks.
