Haven't examined all of the rules, but for those who looking into buying Sony products, seems like it could readily be a good deal. http://sony.tradeups.com/Default.aspx

$500 for a used Dell; $300 for other brands. Good towards monitors, TV's, projectors, tape storage devices, laptops, and desktops.

In your case, trading your current laptop (the 9300) in wouldn't make any sense. It is not only sufficient for doing just about anything you're likely to want to do, but abundantly so. This would only make sense for people who are sure they want a new laptop, are sure they want a Sony, and are sure they can't get more by selling what they currently have. If that describes you, it's a good deal.

Right now, I have an Inspiron 1000 that I would really like to get rid of. I can't imagine getting $500 anywhere including ebay let alone even $300.

This would be an incredible deal for me except I can't seem to find the right BX notebook for me. I would like to have atleast a Core Duo and a non on-board graphics card. Everything else seems to be included. Anyone know if a BX notebook can be customized.
