I am so mad I could scream. I ordered a Inspiron 1525 a week ago from the Dell Outlet using a coupon code I found on this site (thanks!). I've been religously checking Dell to see when they are going to ship it and last night it said "cancelled." What?! I was expecting it today. Imagine the disappointment. Turns out my bank declined the charge because it was over the daily limit of only $500 (news to me, now I know). So I called them up to put it on my credit card (rather than debit card) and they say so sorry, can't sell you that unit anymore. Why I don't know since this all happened last night. After an hour and many re-routes, a sales guy is trying to find a new laptop for me but can't apply that lovely coupon code that gave me $92 off of the outlet price. The manager couldn't help either. Great customer service. So now I'm back to square one, looking for a coupon code (the other is now expired) for a 1525 and then searching the outlet for just the right laptop (which took forever last time). I am so sorry for my rant but I do feel better!

Anyways, please pm me if you know of a great coupon code! I really need to get this done finally!

When a charge is declined, Dell is supposed to contact you before canceling anything. I've gone through that a few times.

I'd be pretty firm that you want a similar system for a similar price, or you'll walk. You can always purchase again online, so be very firm and 'bluff' over the phone.

Yes, I agree but they did not contact me (still haven't sent any email or phone call). I was very firm and did say I would walk but got nowhere. I even explained that I'm opening a large medical practice and that didn't even work. I spoke with the customer service manager and got no where and the outlet manager wouldn't speak to me (I was pleasant, not irate though I feel pretty irate and want to walk).

I just can't find another similar coupon code.

So now you know why you should always use your credit card for a purchase like this. Maybe they should have called you but I don't believe that they are obligated to do so.

Also, you should check the terms and conditions of your credit card because frequently there is a warranty extension and some type of insurance on products purchased with your credit card. I know that my card will double the warranty (up to one year additional) of any products purchased.

Thanks "immortal" - I hope people don't rub it in your face when you are frustrated. It doesn't help much. I think I've already learned my lesson the hard way.

No one is rubbing anything in your face.

Speak to someone different at Dell and the outcome may be different. This is not Dells problem though they may accomodate you to make a sale.

It is not Dell's problem re the credit card limit but I'm shocked that they have such poor customer service that they don't even contact you or hold the unit so you can pay with another card.

It's not their responsibility to secure your funds.

However you may want to call them back and attempt to gain some empathy.

And just simply ask them for the same deal.

Aside from that, just wait until another nice deal comes around the corner.
