well, it is kind of unfair isn't it, I'm not sure how to explain the major pricing and coupon difference between Dell CA and Dell USA. If you have a friend or family member in the U.S. you could try and convince them to place the order and get the shipment and then you reimburse them. But then there's the problem of shipping to Canada and Canadian customs officials slapping all kinds of taxex on it!

On the other hand, you pay a fraction of what us in the U.S. pay for prescription drugs [ :)]

I agree, I'll have to send Dell.Ca a note and see what they say, I just priced a I9300 at both Dell USA and Canada and even with the exchange difference it came to $800 CAN less [V] for the one configured on the US site ... now that's a huge difference ......

    To Admin

Would be nice to a see a separate board here for Canadian deals, the few and far beween there are, and i'm not talking the rotating so called "savings" at the Dell site either. Just a thought

I dont think a seperate forum will be needed, because there isn't really many coupons.

As well most of the admins are from the US, so unless theres an updater from Canada, it'll be a ghost forum [:0]

But yes its unfair that dell has the coupons, all we have are some "deals" which is barely saving anything..

The Dell advertising aren't even worth looking at, I see it in the newspaper EVERYDAY, in the Toronto Star, I mean, "Great Value", blah!

The IBM ad's are better, they have better deals too

ANd last week, I remember seeing a 100GB HD 7200RPM on the XPS 2 in an ad.

    Everyone knows those doesnt exist...

I bought my Dell 700M on ebay for CAD$1200 shipped. If I buy it in dell.ca, I got to pay for $600 more for the same configuration. Well, the market demand is much much bigger in US than in Canada. There are even more competitors in their market and chocies for the customers. We have nothing to say about coupon difference or their pricing tactic because the demand in Canada is just small. Dell Hong Kong has even better deals compared with Dell USA. Notebooks from China, Taiwan and Japan can be seen anywhere. Even they are not major brands but they do provide very attractive prices. We can only see such boring notebooks like HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Sony, Gateway,.....in Future Shop or Staples. We rarely see brands like Gigabyte, ECS, Stamp, NEC, JVC, Kenwood, Asus, Samsung,...... I don't know why we are always few steps behind the others and buy stuff more expensive.[ :(!]

It is brand new laptop. I had been searching for Dell 700m on ebay for a long long time. Sometimes timing and luck are very important in online auction.

Sorry for asking a hundred questions, i'll do a search on Ebay, but i'm curious, I thought only Dell and the Shopping Chanell sell the machines, did you just buy it off some private individual? warranty? who honours it ... etc .....

    thx again

    No problem! [ :)]

Before I decided to purchase my 700m on ebay, I also have same kind of questions regarding the warranty coverage, Dell internal policies,........... . From what I have observed so far, many US sellers on Ebay have some sort of channel to get the Dell products directly from Dell.com. The products include refurbished items, new items, open-boxed items,...... . I also noticed that few private individuals are selling Dell products in regular basis. They have numerous positive feedbacks and claimed that the product is new and has full transferable warranty. According to Dell.com, their products cannot be exported. Many ebay sellers just cheat and sell to us. At this point, my 700m is working fine, and I do not have a chance to know who honours the warranty?! Dell US or Dell Canada. However I have a plan to work in the other country and therefore the warranty issue does not bother me at all. If you consider the money saved, warranty isn't a big deal to me. Except the major components, like LCD panel, mainboard or CPU, the rest of the stuff are easy to fix and cheap to buy.

If I lived in Canada I would start a "boycott Dell" campaign. Do other manufactures have the same kind of price differences between the two countries?

I know things, things that could bore people to death.

I live in Montreal, and am pissed off about the same thing.

The best I could do was buy my 9300 over the phone. On top of the standard "Specials" offered by Dell, I was able to convince the guy on the other end to give me a $150 discount.

I'm pretty sure that the sales guys are always authorized to give people discounts if it amounts to a sale. My advice is haggle. Start high, ask for 250$ off and work your way down a bit at a time. If they really won't budge, don't be afraid to hang up and try again later.

    Hope this helps.
