Not a bad deal. I paid about $100 more roughly 6 months ago. Mine has the same specs as the one above, but a 9 cell, a 1.6Ghz CPU, webcam and bluetooth. Mine only came with 1GB of RAM.

    Nice deal, thanks for posting.

Looking at the upgrade prices, the initial processor upgrades are very steep. $100 to go to the 1.6GHz chip, which is only 200MHz faster than the base 1.4GHz CPU. However it's $130 to go to the 2.0GHz T7250 chip. If you're going to get the CPU upgrade on this, then go right for the T7250.

It's nice that Dell still has XP available on the Vostros.

One upgrade I personally would do is get the WXGA+ screen.

what do you have to do to get 2% back from dell preferred account? will it work if I'm buying from canadian address?

    I got $20 credit on my last 1400 + 1.5% from greatcanadianrebates.ca + 1% from my credit card...so not bad i guess.

Its a business laptop, from dell business. You can not use DPA on business purchases. DPA is for home users only.

Both links given above worked for me, but neither include the 8400M GS. Still, an OK deal.

Deal is dead. $50 more to get the graphics card now and you don't get the upgraded Intel Wireless Card.
