    Well I wasn't planning on buying today, but $373 off the Vostro 1400 14.1" was simply too good to pass up!

    I just ordered

    2.2 Ghz
    160 GB 7200 RPM HDD
    3 GB RAM
    8400M GS
    XGA+
    Bluetooth
    Upgrdaded Wireless Card
    Webcam
    9-cell battery

    For around $1388! Naturally I upgraded the warranty so it ended up costing me about $1620. But I've been looking all over for something with this kinda power for under 15", and this deal beat everything I had been looking at.

    But hell you could configure yourself a lightning fast one for around $1000!

    The outside says $50 rebate, but if you click in to the pre-config page, you will see the last two models are $335 and $373 off respectively.

    Yeah, that's a pretty good deal. For $699 you can choose the "smart package" which gets you Core 2 Duo (1.6GHz), 2GB RAM, 120GB HD and a DVD burner. Tough to pass up.

    Quick question -- do you think it's worth upgrading to 1.8GHz or 2.0GHz? I'm looking for speed (Photoshop), but really small performance differences are hard to justify with that kind of price increase ($115 and $195 respectively).

    No, the T5470 is a pretty solid CPU. It isn't worth the extra cash for the T7100 or T7300.
