Why are you temping me to buy a second 1TB Caviar Black and put them both into USB3.0 enclosures? WHY!

This is a darn good drive, but beware...NewEgg is known to ship hard drives with dubious packing quality.

This is true, but for the last couple of months Newegg has really been cracking down on their packaging of OEM hard drives. I've ordered a half dozen drives in the past 4-6 months and they all come in their own bubble wrapped cardboard box.

Also consider the Hitachi Deskstar HDD. I've found it performs better than the WD black and can easily be found for $70-80. Not sure about reliability compared to WD though.

Not my experience. They enjoy continually mailing me SSDs in worthless little bubble envelopes. NewEgg is pretty close to never getting another drive purchase from me again.

I haven't ordered ssd's from them yet. I would give them some feedback on it.
Just because they're more shock resistant doesn't mean newegg should package them with any less care.

Very odd. I haven't purchased SSDs from them so I can't comment on their packaging methods, but as far as their bare mechanical hard drives go, those are packaged really nice.

So far they're 0-3 on SSD packaging quality.
